I need some morning news show recs

I'd really like an a.m. news program that just gives me news with as little bias as possible. Joe & Mika are too annoying for me. The networks (ABC, NBC, CBS) are too full of fluff. Fox is out, for the obvious reasons. I used to watch CNN, but their all Michael Jackson all the time fiasco last year really turned me off.

Am I out of options? I guess I could do the radio, but for some reason I need something other than myself to look at when I'm getting ready for work. Any suggestions?

Hi Laura! :) I have no recommendations for you ~ I gave up on TV news a long time ago ~ but I wanted to say "hi" and let you know I thought of you while watching Maher's movie, "Religulous."

Hi LW! How much did you love that movie? TOO funny! I DVR'd it so whenever there's nothing worth watching I watch it again. I think I've seen it 6 times already. :D

Hi Laura,

I feel the same as you about the news outlets so now I only watch the BBC. They are the only truly professional news service around in my opinion. The BBC and my local evening news are all I watch now.

Hey Laura!

I used to watch cable news up until a few months ago and then all I did was lose sleep over all the doom and gloom. I have kept away ever since.

Although with elections right around the corner.......I won't be able to help myself.......I know I will get sucked right back in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i like listening to news and other shows on npr. (national public radio) if u want to give radio another chance. they do morning news and some other interesting stories after headlines. 5am-9am. no commercials. i dont like watching tv news, they go through it so fast, i dont learn anything. my fav npr show is science friday 1-3 pm. u can go to npr website to find your local station. or do podcasts, or listen online. they do national news and local stories too.
or you could play a mix of songs on u tube, play that while u get ready. and get news on way to work or at night.

I love NPR too and I have lots of favorites: Fresh Air, Car talk, the garden guy (I forget his name), the barbershop guys and especially the news segments.

Another vote for NPR. :) You'll be so busy THINKING you won't notice there's no visual. IMO, TV news shows tend to play "follow the leader". They all pick one story and go round and round on it until they beat it to death, then move on to their next "big" story which usually involves a celebrity.

I wasn't sure if I would like it at first, yet I ended up enjoying it very much. :D It's definitely worth watching more than once. I also walked away from it thinking, "Okay. So I'm NOT weird for being an Agnostic. Cool."

I have been having this same problem. I only get 4 English news stations (BBC, Fox, CNN and Headline News). Fox is out for me too.

We typically watch CNN or BBC but I feel like it's 90% human interest stories. They are going on and on about some dog that plays soccer, meanwhile the real news is scrolling through at the bottom of the screen.

I just want the headlines. National, international - I don't really care at this point. If I could just get the "real" news, I would be elated. Yet everyday I watch the "news" at breakfast then have to get online to look up the poor little ignored headlines. Depressing.

I've thought about NPR. The ADD in me really prefers visuals, but I just can't stand the non-news I'm getting from the various morning sources. And I NEED my morning news! I can't start the day without it!

LW, you are most definitely NOT weird! At least not to me. ;) I think my favorite part of that movie was the Jesus theme park. I loved it when he was turning water into wine the same time a jet plane flew overhead. Although his interview with the senator--OMG! "You don't have to pass an IQ test to be a senator." No kidding?

Loved Religulous!! Wasn't what I expected. Very funny and thought-provoking. And very even handed.

I admit to "watching" the Today show, which gets increasingly annoying with it's pure nonsense, but it's so fluffy I can try to not get distractred while I'm getting ready. Damn if I don't always find some story I have to stop and watch and then I'm 10 minutes late.

I haven't listened to the radio in years.

Well, I tried CNN this morning. I lasted about 10 minutes & had to change the channel when they started yet another story on Tiger Woods. Why do the people at CNN not realize THIS IS NOT NEWS?????????????

u could hook up computer or wii/ps etc. to the tv and internet. just need the right cables. u could go to a news website. then its visual and educational.

i guess i'm opposite in morning. either no tv/radio too distracting, or some pumped up songs rock, jock jams even. anything to get the kids out the door. i may just stay up all night before their first day of school.i'm soo paranoid they're going to miss the bus. its getting the dd ready thats throwing me off, alot of the time shes like a caterpillar. well anyway, trying to plan ahead. clothes out etc. this yr i wont be writing names on stuff as they get dressed first day lol.

morning news

HI, try CNBC, they are funny, all about the stock market & you get the latest news because it is a financial news show
