Take a look at the seller's ratings to make sure they have loads of positive feedback. This means they are an ""honest" person and will in fact send you the items after you win them!
Decide what price you would pay for the items, and it should be less than you would pay for them direct from Cathe or there is no point getting them on ebay where they will be "used items" and where there is always a certain "risk factor".
Then hit the bid button and type in the MAX AMOUNT you would agree to pay, and take into account also that the amount of shipping ebay sellers charge can vary enormously, from $2.95 to $12, so factor that in to your total expected price if you should win.
The max amount you are prepared to pay will not show up on ebay, that is between you and ebay, but as others bid against you, the system will automatically bid on your behalf up to the max amount you said you would be prepared to pay.
Then you wait it out and see if you win or not. Many people do not bid until the last half hour and then pip you at the post.
That's OK. Don't let the "bidding fever" get to you, i.e. don't let the desire to win and beat out the other bidders take you over the max amount you think the "used items" are worth. This does not do you any favours at all.
Always remember that with Cathe DVDs, they tend to sell on ebay at something close to their actual retail prices and this is stupid. Not only would they be brand new from Cathe direct, but they carry a guarantee and can be replaced if they are defective.
If the DVD from an ebayer arrives and is defective, there are no guarantees, there is nothing really in place on ebay to protect you and you may lose out completely. This is the risk.
With VHS, the risk is reduced because they sell for much less, usually, than their retail prices.
Good luck bidding!
