I need advice please...

Okay, I have been trying to figure this out on my own..no luck. SO please offer any advice.

I have 2 days a week to devote to strength training. I have been alternating these workouts every couple of weeks:

the premixes of the Gym Style upper body workouts one day(both workouts in one day), then doing Gym Style Legs the next day. The that is all my strength training for the week, besides throwing in Circuit Max or Bootcamp one day.

the next couple of weeks, I will do Muscle Max, Power Hour or Muscle Endurance twice a week.

My goal is to shed about 5 pounds and have my muscles look more cut. I love the results from the Gym Style upper body workouts, the leg workout is ok....I still like PLB the best.

So, should I focus on the Gym-Styles in the same way I have been using them or go for a few weeks of doing whole body workouts?

Thanks for any and all advice!

Hey Renee, I don't have any input for you regarding your post, but was wondering how your battle of the "bra dough" is going. Are you winning and if so, what specifically are you doing?

Hey runninggal! Those push-ups in Gym-Style Chest and Triceps are helping alot! And I increased the poundage I use for chest work. Yet, the stuff is still there, maybe not as much, but still there. I don't get it, I can be skinny as a rail and still have those fat pockets there! It's very annoying...makes me want to get lipo right in those sections...not that I ever will...just wishing.

How about you?

I hear you sister. I am built like a ruler too, yet I have this little "poppin' fresh" area that drives me nuts. I think it must be genetic. Like you, I have upped my chest work and pushups and see some change, but not much. I guess we either embrace our dough, or get lipo :)

I recommend keeping the Gym Styles split, using one upper body on "day 1," the lower body on "day 3" and the other upper body on "day 5" of your workout week. That way you get the metabolism boost of lifting heavy three times a week instead of just two, and you space out the workouts so the increased metabolic boost that occurs after a heavy workout (and can last 48 hours or or) continues throughout the week. Of course, with this set-up, you wouldn't also do Circuit Max or BootCamp during the week.

For cardio, make sure to include an interval workout, which is a good way to increase calorie burn, once a week.

Thank you Kathryn. That gives me a plan. I do use IMAX 2 or 3 once a week. Usually IMAX2. IMAX 3 is a tad brutul on my knees, so I only use it about every 3 weeks.

Thanks again for your help!

I modify A LOT when doing IMAX3. I just think the amount of impact in that workout is excessive and unnecessary. I take it down to a level that I feel is challenging for me, but not "over the top." (Like jumping DOWN to the floor from the step: since when is that considered good?). I still have a good workout and have fun without killing my knees.

I consider it great!!! I love Imax 3 and I'm sure a day will come when I need to modify it but right now I'm loving it. For some people this is not excessive or unnecessary...we expect these kind of moves in an Imax workout!!! I do love that for those who can't/don't like the high impact, it can be modified and then everyone wins with a great, advanced, cardio workout!

Have fun Renee and good luck!

P.S. You may want to consider going with the GS for a few more weeks. Since I've been doing the HC series I've noticed more definition and I haven't weighed myself but I look better in my clothes. I still have some hip and lower gut to lose so no, I'm not posting pictures here(I leave that to WD and McMain...those ladies look FAB!!!) but I can look in the mirror and see the changes. I also bought a bathing suit yesterday and I didn't go home depressed so that was a good sign!:p
