i killed a horsefly with hairspray!

Speaking of horseflies, they are the bane of my riding season in certain parts of the midwest. My trick is to put double-sided packing tape or any sticky tape on the back of my riding shorts and I wear a white helmet (horseflies go for dark colors). Its pretty gross when you see the end results, but worth it to me. They also tend to go for the leader of the pack on group rides. We have to move faster then 14 mph to drop a swarm of them and that is not easy to do at times depending on the trail.

Now I got this image of us all brandishing cans of hairspray...:D

Why are you using hairspray???It's so 1980's.............who really cares anyway?
Sue

PS...hairspray is my MILaw's choice of bug poison

Hairspay freaks me out, who really knows what's in that stuff. My mom was recently diagnosed with kidney cancer and the doctors believe it was caused by the environment (she cleans a lot and.....you guessed it, uses tons and tons of hairspray). No joke, she swims in that stuff, she has very thin hair and for almost her entire 64 years of life she used massive amounts of hairspray to give it some volume. I am not sure if it really was the cause of the tumor, but she has no other health problems.............makes you think!!!

BTW, she is doing well considering, and will have her kidney removed by the end of the summer.

Thanks, Cecifit. She is doing so much better. The tumor spread to her spine and they were able to remove it. But the last 2 months she's been recovering from the surgery and trying to get stronger before the kidney surgery. The doctors think that she had the kidney tumor for 5 years. She didn't have any signs until the second tumor was pressing on her spine and she was in a lot of pain. Within the last year or so I have really been careful with all types of unnatural products, just from what I have read and I seriously believe there is some truth of their dangers. Like I said I am not sure it caused her cancer, but there doesn't seem to be anything else to blame.

Thanks again, sorry to go off on the topic...but I am not surprised that hairspray works as a bug killer.
