I hate kickboxing!

It doesn't matter who the trainer is. Cathe, Amy Bento, Billy Blanks, P90X (well, not really because KenpoX is not all kick box).

What can I do to enjoy this workout? Can you believe it - I even don't enjoy Turbo Jam except their fat blaster workout because it is fast and fun and isn't really kickbox as it is cardio box.

Help? Suggestions?

Any particular reason you want to like kick boxing? If you don't enjoy it, don't do it - there are many other forms or cardio out there.

>Help? Suggestions?

Ummmm, don't do it. I'm not trying to be snarky, but the best exercise is the kind you enjoy. If you hate kickboxing, then don't do it. There are plenty of other cardio options out there. :)

Yep. Listen to Christine and Emily. Good advice there.

I was advised a few months back to try bicycling while I recuperated from an injury. I said I'd rather not exercise at all. I despise biking, so I didn't do it. No how, no way. :p

It sounds like you don't like the kicking portion of kickboxing, but like the boxing aspect of the workout? If so, you should just get boxing type workouts. One that I've really enjoyed is Aerobox with Kathy Smith. It definitely works up a sweat. There are probably other good boxing workouts out there that others could suggest for you.

Yes, I have that - I absolutley love AeroBox with Michael Olajide Junior - but my question is why don't I enjoy kickboxing? So many others do. I feel like I am missing out on something.

(

Yah, because I have 3 Cathe tapes that were purchased as part of a package (4 day split, body blast series and CTX) plus I have Amy Bento's (I purchased it thinking maybe it was Cathe's kick box that I didn't enjoy - but that turned out to be wishful thinking LOL!!)

Just have all these kick box tapes that I am not using and just can't get past the mental programming.

I doubt anyone here can tell you why you don't enjoy kickboxing, or why you love AeroBox, or anything else. It's just who you are, and that's fine.

I like kickboxing, sometimes. But I'm not crazy about it. That's just me.

Don't let others dictate what you think you should or shouldn't like. Just get in there and enjoy the workout - whatever workout you decide to do! :7

What Shannon said! Just because lots of people enjoy a certain type of workout doesn't mean you have to, and it doesn't mean you're missing something. You just have different tastes. Don't make yourself do something you hate doing! Go get an IMAX workout and have fun! :)

I started out not liking it as well as more traditional forms of cardio, but a lot of that was not having much experience with it. Now that I'm comfortable with it, I have to say it is my favorite form of cardio-- I do it at least once a week. I like it because, unlike many other lower impact activities, I can get my heartrate up high enough for a sustained time. The stress relief is also very important. Nothing like a good upper cut or roundhouse to melt away anger or frustration.

Oh, and it makes me feel tough ("knock the door down" in 4DS says it all). No amount of step or running does that.

But like the others have said, if you don't like it, don't do it. Life's too short.

if you don't like to do them sell them on ebay. there is no point in forcing yourself to do a workout you hate. you'll be much more successful and motivated doing things you enjoy. i'm sure someone will buy them from ebay.

Yes, just don't do it! I hate HIIT on the treadmill. So, guess what? Oh well. I just don't do it anymore! I still find ways to get my cardio in.
Sell them!!

I did KPC this week for the first time in i don't know when(about 6 months),And let me tell you..im right there with ya! Im not a fan of kickboxing either! Yep,I don't like kickboxing or even the boxing in it.I sometimes do it for the variety(like this week). I don't even own the KPC dvd(which is the only kickbox style workout I 'did' own) I recorded the dvd and sold it on ebay}(

so if ya don't like it,you are not alone! I just feel so awkward kicking and hitting something thats not there,LOL! Call me CRAZY;-)

HTH's:)

Gasp! You don't like Billy? I have a soft spot in my heart for that over the top enthusiastic man! His tapes were my first at-home workouts. I still do them every once in awhile.
I don't really like step workouts. I am a kickbox fan but do not like KPC that much and really despise Turbo Jam, especially the one where she is wearing that short skirt!x( I need to get rid of those workouts, I have all of them, and the gloves which I use with my other kickbox workouts.

But do what you love. I hate the bike like Shannon does, even though I have a spin bike at home. I love the classes at the gym, but do not love them at home.

Oh, I simply adore spinning - yeah it makes me hurt, but it's a good hurt!

But, my whole family skis - DH and all the kids. Every time I strap on skis I feel as if my world as I know it is about to end. I tighten up, my feet hurt, my toes get cold, and I simple HATE it! So I took up snow shoeing and I usually drop the family off at the ski resort and the dogs and I go shoeing. I'm done in time to grab a shower, and start something warm and delicious -soup, chili, etc. And I pick up the family from the resort. Sure I miss some great family time, but every one is happier this way, including the dogs and the family has the benefit of not having to wait too long for dinner.

So, it's all a matter of perspective. If you don't like kickboxing, sell your DVD's on eBay and move on. :p

I never liked kickboxing until a did 4DS. Now I really like it and realize the benefits for my body. I can't tell you what just clicked for me, but it did!

Yeah, seriously, you do not need to like, love or even tolerate kickboxing. If it isn't for you, then it isn't for you. There are plenty of form of exercise in the world to love, so give it up already!!!

Clare

You probably don't like kick boxing for the same reason I don't: Unlike with step, or even running on a treadmill, you feel you can't get you heart rate up long enough to actually accomplish anything. When I try kickboxing I often find myself making the "I dunno" motion with my hands because I feel like I'm wasting my time and wish I'd picked a cardio routine I KNOW would challenge me.

Is that it?
