I Hate Cardio Check-in, 3/24

Miss Lee

Cathlete
Good morning cardio haters!

I'll bet you thought I forgot about you this morning. I'm getting a late start today because DH left for work later than usual and I was helping him get a few last minute receipts together for our taxes;( .

I'm experiencing a bizarre phenomenon, I think it's called DOMS in fitness circles. I mostly feel it in my triceps and quads but have no fear, I am doing cardio today. My new DVD STILL has not come so I think I'm going to take all my cardio DVD's, throw them in a pile on the floor, then close my eyes and pick one. I was stunned at how difficult HSC was for me yesterday. I've been doing cardio consistently now for 3 weeks and I expected Cathe to be more difficult than Leslie Sansone, but I thought I was in a little better shape than that. Holy crap, that work out about killed me!

I just want to say again that you guys are all doing so great. It's a HUGE help to me to have people to check-in with. I would like to invite any of you to feel free to start this thread if you get here before I do. I view this as "our" thread---not my thread.

Oh, I have lost 2#'s since last Friday!! I'm very pleased about that because at first it seemed like my weight was going up.

Michele

Good Morning Fellow Haters!

Michele,

Way to go on the weight loss!! I have DOMS too in my neck, abs, calves, hams and glutes. My upper body tends to always feel fried so use to that! I am amazed at how much my abs have been worked due to plyometrics..it really works them more than I thought it would. I wasn't going to do any cardio today, but I did some airborne jumping jacks, box jumps, etc. I did this for about 1 hour to some favorite songs of mine. I probably shouldn't have worked my legs anymore, but I love music and it just kind of makes me want to move! LOL! I will be working out my biceps/triceps/shoulders today. All my favorite things to workout! My scale and omron is not making sense to me as I am eating healthy and have my meals spaced out. I did eat at 6pm last night and so I think that is maybe why I gained a few more pounds. This ALWAYS screws me up, but I can't always be on time for everything either. All I know is that my jeans are starting to feel alittle baggy on me and my arms are getting more definition to them. I see veins popping out near my abs and more down my arms so WTH? Weird, weird, weird.

Charlotte~~

Ok Michele you have made me laugh for a few weeks now and I think I need to join you in the I hate cardio check in.
I don't exactly hate cardio, I just hate cardio the next day after GS legs because of my DOMS. However I also hate cardio when I can't get the darn steps down and end up standing there thinking I am a fruit loop because the brain and the feet don't click!!!

Good job on the cardio work, before you know it you will be saying I love cardio! hahahaahahahahahaa....yeah right!

Have a fun cardio workout today!

Jana

Toasty, plyo? Oh my! You are energetic aren't you? I'm a little afraid of plyo--I had surgery on my neck a few years ago and I don't do well with high impact stuff. You are an inspiration, though. Hey, the clothes are a better guide than any scale or caliper.

Jana---welcome to Cardiohateville! We're always happy to report an increase in the census. I think there's a lot of cardio haters out there who just don't want to identify themselves. I say, change your screen name for this thread and come on in. Nobody has to know who you are--LOL!

I trip all over the step. I'm a natural born klutz and that's all there is to it. Thanks for the compliment but I don't think I'll be declaring my love for cardio anytime in the near future;)

Michele

Is it the "cardio protection plan" the government helps you get a new screen name and re-locates you to a safe place?

Michele, I think that there are a lot of "closet cardio haters" that just don't want to come out. :)

Congrats on your 2 lb weight loss. I weighed myself first thing this a.m. and I lost the lb that I gained last week. Happy about that but I was hoping to see a bit more of a loss.

Charlotte, so amazed at you! Lucky for you that you already have your cardio in for the day.

Jana glad to have you here!

I'm not sure whether or not I"m doing cardio today. I have an appointment during my lunch hour so no walk for me. I'm debating on which workout I want to do tonight: Bootcamp or 30 min elliptical, coremax and 20min Core Secrets (co-worker brought it in today, thinking it will be too easy but will try it just so I can tell her that I tried it, KWIM?).

I was going to attempt to do HardCore Extreme #3 tomorrow. I ordered all of the hardcores and haven't even checked this one out. #3 has the leg condiditioning drills from KM in it. It is 70min long though - not sure if I'll end up on the floor with all cardio though. So if I"m not here on Monday, you'll know it killed me. HA!

It's time for all the cardio haters to step out of the closet!!!
I know they are out there, they are the lurkers who will read the posts, but too afraid to be seen.......You know they are reading this now, checking to see if anyone is watching them...little do they know it's a conspiracy..

Michele - Congrats on the weight loss! Really inspires me to keep going with the cardio. I feel like I am leaning out with all of this running, but the scale doesn't seem to agree. DH says I look better, so that is what matters, right? I should take some "before" pics so I can really chart the progress.

Charlotte - very impressed! An hour of plyo! I haven't done that much plyo since high school in off season when I played sports. We used to do these fun plyo drills down the football field and then run back. It was killer! Everyone was always dying and sometimes got sick. Where do you get the plyo moves from? Book, internet, video?

Welcome Jana!

Dana - Also congrats on the weight loss. Let me know how Core Secret is? I always see the infomercial but it seems too easy if you are used to Cathe workouts.

Yesterday I actually got my butt to the gym and did my upper body workout. I first did a run/walk for 15 minutes to warm up, then I focused on my chin ups and push ups. My goals are to be able to do an unassisted chin up and all the push ups from GS Chest and Triceps on my toes. That is a long way from now though, because my upper body is very weak.

This morning I willed myself out of bed to do my 30 min run/walk in the chilly outdoors. It actually felt GOOD today! I was pushing myself, but not dying. And I got a couple of new running tank tops yesterday so I looked cute doing it ;)

Hey Girls!

I am working my favorite parts right now (arms) and I am listening to Avril Lavigne. There is this song she sings (forget the name), but it starts out..."I'm not afraid unless I know I can breathe". I just LOL when I heard it and thought of us all here. There is another from Linkin Park..."I'm on the edge and I am about to break". LOL! Just cracks me up and wanted to share.

BTW, the plyo moves I get from a friend, some of Cathe's and some I make up. Love it though. I do a light jog to "Institutionalized" by Senses Fail and then when the beat kicks up, I do a "high jog" then slow down again, etc. Fun what you can do with songs...well, it motivates me to do the cardio this way.

Charlotte~~

Charlotte your workout sounds too intense for me (at least for now). Thinking it could be fun using a rebounder. That is on my wish list right now!

Diane - my friend bought the Core Secrets DVD from the informerical(sp?), I'll let you know how it is. It is only 20 minutes so how good can it be? Might surprise me though, you never know.

Hi girls! I just finished my breakfast--2 poached eggs, 1 slice of WW toast, and a glass of V8 juice. I had a few high calorie meals during the week--not really bad foods, just too much food, and I'm trying to pare it down a little.

Dana, goo job! I hope you don't feel discouraged that the scale said one pound down. I mean, you've lost a lot in the long run. I think as your weight comes down, the # of pounds you lose each week is less. Your body is becoming more efficient at burning the calories. I think you're an inspiration.

Diane, I agree with your DH. When I look at myself in the mirror and see how my jeans fit (jeans for me are THE indicator of wt loss), I look like I've dropped more than 2#'s. My DH commented on it, too. He hardly ever exercises and he's mentioned my new found cardio work out ethic several times this week. Maybe it will rub off on him.

Charlotte--I aspire to your work outs, but like I said, high impact stuff is not a good fit for me.

Dana, which Core Secrets do you have? I have a set that I bought years ago--came with several DVD's and a stability ball. I don't use it that much because Gunner Peterson is just so boring IMHO. I haven't even opened all of the DVD's and they're about 3 or 4 years old now--LOL!

Michele

Finally! My new DVD was just delivered. I'm going to preview it now and probably do it in a couple of hours..need to let my lunch digest;)

Michele

Drive By Check-in!!

Yes. I did my cardio.. High Step Circuit!!!!

No time to read...but it looks like we are going great!!!

Well, I previewed my new DVD and I FELL ASLEEP watching it. Yes, it was that boring. It looks like a decent enough work out, it's just all that incessant banter! Anyway, I did cardio, but I chose a Leslie for today and will probably do my new one next week.

In case you didn't see my other thread, my MIL was taken to the hospital from her water aerobics class and admitted to the Cardiac Care Unit. They think she may have had a silent heart attack and we were with her all evening. I'm happy to say that she's doing well and seems in good spirits. I'll be at the hospital much of the day Saturday and I'm not sure If I'll have time for a work out but I'm going to try.

I haven't had a chance to read all the posts but I hope you all had a great work out today.

Michele
