I Hate CArdio check-in, 3/22

Miss Lee

Cathlete
I'm ready to kick up the dust in Cardiohateville! I'm hoping my new areobics DVD comes today. It's an older Charlene Prickett. I used to work out with her years ago when she had a show on Lifetime. Anyway, I'm waaaaaay ready for a change from Leslie.

I'm getting company today so I won't be doing my work out until later on. If my DVD is delivered that's the one I intend to do. I also want to do a total boday weight work out--that is my goal for today.

Thanks again for the badgering:D ---it worked.

Michele

Good Morning Cardiohaters!!!

I will be doing Imax 2 again today. Actually I am starting to like it (scary) LOL, but I still need some motivation to make it thru to the end as I grow weary tired cuz I have other workouts too to do! LOL!

Charlotte~~

Charlotte!!!! You're back! We missed you! I was so thankful you came here and yelled at me yesterday. You scared the crap out of me. I'd rather face cardio than incur your wrath--LOL! All I can say is that I hope to someday like cardio.

I've been neglecting my other work outs which is odd because I like strength training. I guess what I don't like is having to drag everything out from storage and put it all away again, and having to rearrange my family room. After awhile that gets old. I want to move--LOL! Really, I would love to have a designated work out room.

Michele

Yeah, I don't really feel like I like cardio yet, but Imax 2 is growing on me like some poisonous fungus! For me, it is like someone giving me a cigarette and asking me to smoke it and then jump up and down! LOL! I swear I have the hardest time with my lungs burning and gasping for air. I need to keep going with it and soon those days will be gone, right? I love this thread!!!! I am so glad to know you and others hate it as much as me! LOL!

Charlotte~~

Hey chickies! Last night I need C&W and actually did pretty good. I was so surprised when Cathe said this is your last cardio and I was expecting more. It was awhile since I did C&W. My 4 year old wanted to do it to so I gave him his own step. He did the first interval (making up his own moves) and he says, "Is this lady trying to kill me or what"? Then he flopped on the bed until it was time for weights. He has his own set of 2 lbs. He even upped his weights when Cathe said to get heavier weights. **picture a 4-year old with a broken arm using 8 lbs HA!!!**

Anyway, today is my usual walk (it is only 38 so I"m gonna freeze) and tonight I"m doing L&G.

Charlotte, I attempted IMAX2 on Sunday and I'll admit that I kinda liked it. I don't have near the endurance to complete it but I"m working on it. I really like the music on it.

Michelle, I have a Charlene Prickett DVD that I really like. It is called "With Every Step" and it has 2 35-minute step routines on it. It is low-impact and the steps are very easy to follow. I also have her Crazy for Step DVD but I've never completed it. It just seems to drag on and on and on.

Have a great day all you cardio-haters!

Dana,

Howdy! C&W is not too bad. In the past, I would just skip C and do W. LOL! That is really cute to have your 4 year old doing it with you. So sweet! It is cold here today too, but the sun is shining again! I am not sure I have the endurance thing down yet for Imax 2, but I somehow manage to get thru to the end. I think the first time I did it all the way, my face looked green! LOL! Just kidding. Did feel alittle rough though. Most I pushed myself in cardio, I think.

Charlotte~~

Charlotte, at least you can get through IMAX2 (even though you may need a respirator at the end). LOL! I haven't even attempted IMAX3. Do you have that one?

I'm really liking this check-in. Hopefully someday I'll be able to get through an IMAX with no problems.

No, I don't think I want to know about the other Imaxes! LOL! What I do is focus on the moves Cathe is doing because they can be fun. Makes me feel like a kid again and so I am so focused on the moves that I somehow make it thru. I think, "This is fun even though I am dying". LOL!

Charlotte~~

Dana, you should post a picture of your little one doing a work out. That is too cute for words!

I won't even attempt an IMAX right now. Aside from the fact that I'd need somebody standing by to perform CPR, my hip really can't take step work.
I think I have a little arthritis and some times it doesn't bother me too much, but stepping up seems to aggravate it. I had purchased BS & BF thinking this would be a good place to start and I can't do it. It bothers me too much. That's how I happened on to Leslie Sansone. I will admit that her stuff is a little to easy for me but I find ways to ^ the intensity and I do get my heart rate up there pretty good.

The Charlene I bought is a floor aerobic work out. I think it's called Low Impact High Intensity. I remember she's outside with a group of women with the Canadian Rockies in the background.

I'm so glad you guys like this check-in. I was hesitant to start it thinking people might be put out by the title, but I DO hate cardio and the name is a true reflection of my feelings. I'm pleasantly surprised by how motivating this has been. I admit that the other check-ins, while inspiring, leave me feeling inadequate and defeated. I can't keep up with the die hards. Anyway, I'm so glad to have you guys to share my pain.

Michele

Looks like I will be working out to:

Linkin Park, Avril Lavigne, Veda, Senses Fail and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

When the going gets tough, I crank out Linkin Park, Senses Fail, etc. When it gets smooth again...I go lighter with my music. I am going to listen to "American Death" when I do a few of the Imax 2 blast moves. LOL!

I'm glad to see lots of people posted this morning. I am definitely benefiting from this check-in too. I feel better knowing that other people dread their cardio workouts as well. I finished all of my planned cardio this past week, which is a big accomplishment for me.

I actually woke up this morning and completed my 30 min walk/run. I should really be calling it a run/walk at this point, since I am running more than I am walking! Or maybe a jog/walk, since I don't know if what I am doing really classifies as running :) It was chilly outside this morning, and I was NOT properly dressed, so hopefully I won't catch a cold or something. I need to buy some better running clothes, more coolmax type gear. I can always find excuses to shop. I bought some new running socks online because I have been getting blisters and I got them in the mail yesterday. I tried them out this morning and boy could I tell a difference! They were the Thorlos kind and were super expensive (at least to me) but are sooooo comfortable, and gave a lot of arch support. If only I could afford to wear these socks all the time!! Now my DH wants some too, they are just so comfortable.

Hey, Michele -
I have several of Charlene's workouts. Two low-impact ones that I like are "Start Your Engines" and "Cruising Altitude." A friend has them though, so I haven't done them in quite some time. They have lots of high leg lifts, which help to get the heart rate up.

Shannon, thanks for the tip. I'm going to check those out at Collage.

Diane, I'm so glad you like this check-in and you're doing so well! You girls all have such a great sense of humor. Personally, I couldn't get through my cardio without it.

Which Thorlo's were you talking about? I was looking at some socks on the Two Roads Fitness website...I think they're called "Feetures". I've never tried them but I've heard they're really comfy. I think they come in 2 different styles--one for walking and another type for running. I need new socks AND shoes. Shopping for shoes is a traumatic experience for me. I have a terrible time finding any that fit properly.

I'm back from my walk and I decided to wear my heart rate monitor today. Took my 48 minutes to walk 3.5 miles and I only burned 306 calories. While I was walking, a mailman gave me a can of "Back Off" dog repellent. LOL I sure could've used it last week when some weirdo offered me a ride. I was walking, had on my work clothes which was a skirt and I was wearing SNEAKERS, was carrying my coat b/c I was so stinking hot, was walking super fast and he stops and says, "I don't want to bother you but do you need a ride or something?" He wasn't even going the same direction as I was. What a freak!

Dana,

Oh, that is weird! I am going to start taking pepper spray with me when I go out for all KINDS of animals out there...2 legged and 4 legged! I am glad you are o.k. though. That is scary.

Charlotte~~

Last year I had a ground hogchase me. It actually lunged right at my calve. If anyone would have seen me running they'd have died laughing. It was like in one of those cartoons where you see smoke coming out of their feet. LOL

Boy, I agree. I haven't walked outside much recently, and when I do my DH is usually with me. It bugs me to no end that people let their dogs run loose. I have some pepper spray in my car--a lot of good it does me in there--LOL!

Dana, walking that distance in 48 minutes is awesome!

I got the Thorlos Lightweight running mini-crew from zappos

http://www.zappos.com/n/p/product_id/7151819.html

There are so many different choices that it was hard to figure out which one to get. I have heard time and time again that Thorlos is the best and lasts for many years.

These are a level 2 (out of 3) for protection, so there is some padding in the heal and toe area, but not so much that you will need a bigger shoe size or will get hot in the summer. I thought level 1 might not be enough since I am eventually planning on having long runs. I love the heal cushion, makes running 10X more comfortable. There is GREAT arch support and the fabric is breathable. There are so many different choices for Thorlos that it took me about 30 minutes to find the right ones for me, but I think I picked some good ones. They also have Thorlos for every other kind of sport (walking, tennis, etc.).
