I Hate Cardio Check-in, 3/20

Good morning to everyone in Cardiohateville. I'm in a bit of a rush this morning because I have to take my kitty to the vet first thing---poor love is getting his teeth cleaned and I'm not allowed to feed him this morning. He hates that!

I'm still trying to decide which cardio DVD to do. I'm getting a little bored with my selection so I ordered a new floor aerobics DVD and it should be here tomorrow.

I'm planning to get back into strength training today, too.

Need to run for now but I'll check back later.

I'm thinkin' I'm gonna rent a Uhaul and drive all of my cardio GADGETS up to Michele's house so that we can have a CARDIO CONVENTION WEEKEND and Michele is going to be the instructor!!! :p

I went for a run yesterday and did 125 walking lunges. Called it good at that. (about a half hour total)

Not sure what I will do today. I am pretty short on time, so we will see if any cardio gets into this body today!

Today I"m going to walk 3.5 miles and tonight will do 30 minutes on the elliptical. This weight is not budging so I"m thinking I need to up my cardio and cut back on the weights. Think I"ll try this for a few weeks and see what happens.

Yesterday I actually attempted IMAX2. Did about 3/4 of it with some modifications. Didn't do too bad (at least for me).
 
I would like to join. I hate cardio too. I have an excuse for no cario: I have a nasty ear infection and I am not doing anything. Whoopee!
 
This morning I was supposed to do another 30 min walk/run, but it was storming outside so I am going to run on the treadmill at the gym after work (if I get off work at a decent time). I have some DOMS from GS Legs on Saturday, so it might be a very very slow run.

Hi Jenn, DAna, Tallchick, and Diane!

Well, I took yesterday off except DH and I went for a short, 1 mile walk. He thought I set a "ferocious" pace. I must be conditioned from all this friggin cardio!

Jenn, I'm in awe of anyone who can do 125 lunges. Did you do them all at once or did you do them in sets? I can do 100 if I break them up into sets of 20 or 25. Actually, I should do that more often. Note to self---add walking lunges to your work out.

Dana, I am perplexed by what the scales say for me, too. I haven't done this much cardio in I don't know when and the scale is moving in the wrong direction. I refuse to be discouraged, though. I will confess that my diet was horrible over the weekend. I stuffed every conceivable kind of crap into my mouth that you can think of--LOL! I really need to get my eating under control. Well, one thing at a time, I guess. I'm curious to know what kind and model of elliptical trainer you have. That's a machine I would use if I had one. My Bday is coming up in May and I thought that would make a very nice present.

Tallchick, welcome and the more the merrier! You know what they say...misery loves company:D . I agree that it would be tough to do cardio with an ear infection. Hey, is it contagious---I need a good excuse to get out of my commitment--LOL!

Diane, I think it's so cool that your DH is going to train with you. Way to go! Running with DOMS!? You go, girl:D

I have no idea what time I'll get to my work out today. I'm waiting for a call from my vet, then I'll have to pick up my kitty cat. I'll probably just wait until my kitty is home safe and sound. Also, I could not sleep last night. There's nothing more miserable than lying in bed wide awake tossing and turning. Now, of course, I'm so tired I can barely keep my eyes open. I might take a little nap while I'm waiting for the vet to call.

I am starting Spring Fresh today with a brand new Intermediate rotation which varies Step and Circuit (with Abs everyday).

Today is LIS..40 min of cardio..I will survive!!

Ellen!!!! You're back!!! I'm so happy to see you. Wow, I had totally forgotten that this was the first day of spring. Well now, that just adds a whole new element of optimism to my otherwise cynical attitude.:D

I almost forgot to wish you good luck on your cardio today!

Michelle, I have a ProForm Elliptical from Sears. I'm not sure what model I have (I can check when I get home). It was around $475 but I got it on sale for about $375. I really like it. My DH put it together in about 20 minutes.
 
Okay, now my sister has joined the bandwagon and wants to run the 1/2 marathon with me. So that totals to 4 people: my friend Maria, my hubby, my sister and myself. Lots of pressure now to go through with this!! My sister came up with the idea without me even telling her I was planning on doing it. She has run several other races, lots of 5ks, 10ks, some mini-triathalons. She has started running again recently and I told her I started running again recently, and she was like, why don't we do a race together. She will be moving to Boston by the end of the month (I live in Texas) so she said, "well it wouldn't be worth flying to some city to run a race together if it is not a long distance, like a half marathon." My sister and I have some sort of weird connection where we think of the same idea at the same time - we often buy the same clothes independently, we recently decided to learn how to sew within 1 day of each other (asked my mom to borrow her sewing machine on the same day without knowing the other was doing the same thing), and this is just another example of our strange ESP or whatever it is. You would think we were twins or something.

Anyway, so another person to join me on the race. I have a feeling hubby will drop out once the runs get too long, and my friend Maria is scheduled to give birth next week so I have a feeling her newborn may hold her back from running the race with me, so in the end, I might only have one or two people with me at the race anyway. I have plenty of back up.

I'm having a bad day:-( . I'm so fatigued. I had trouble sleeping last night and I'm dragging today. I tried to do some cardio earlier and I just couldn't finish. As if the lack of sleep weren't bad enough, I developed a headache, too. I ended up taking some Ibuprofen then napped for a couple of hours and I'm feeling better now.

So I caught the tail end of the weather report and we're under a winter weather advisory. It's supposed to start snowing after midnight and continue throughout the day tomorrow, and we're supposed to have an accumulation of 6". Needless to say, I have to run to the grocery store because I don't have enought food for meals tomorrow. I'm going to try to get in some more cardio before bed but I'm not promising anything.

Diane, I cannot believe your good fortune! I'm really happy that you have so much support but I also understand the pressure. It's neat that you have such a close connection with your sister. How far apart are you in age? I have a sister who is 2 years younger than me and we love each other a lot but we're from different planets--LOL! We are literally at opposite ends of a continuum in terms of our ideas. That's okay, though. We get along really well and we can count on each other when the going gets tough--we just might argue over which path to take:eek: :)

I did cardio again!! Yay for me! I just put in BootCamp and did the whole thing! I even felt some energy for some of the more difficult cardio moves. I haven't done this one for about a year and I felt pretty strong.

Michele~ The walking lunges yesterday were in sets of 50 and then the last 25. I just took a small break in between to catch my breath. I know what you mean about remembering to do them. I just started adding them in during the last week or so.

I have to say thay I do love working out, but DREAD cardio and feel sooo good when I just do it and get it over with. I'll take a weight day any day over cardio!

This check-in is keeping me a little more motivated! Thanks cardio haters!
