i got a "big girl" catalog in the mail today!

I am depressed...I keep getting the VENUS catalog. They have great clothes/swimsuits for summer and I can't order a dang this for this summer season coz who the heck knows what I'll look like or what size I'll be!?!? VERY frustrating!!! GRRRR! x( x( x(

When you say a big girls catalog, are you talking size 12-16 or something like that. I don't consider this big girls stuff. Or are you talking 20+ sizes.
I know I probably shouldn't say this but there are bigger people on this forum and saying you received a big girls catalog may hurt some people's feelings. Not everyone is a small person. I know I may get "yelled" at but I am a bigger girl and workout just as hard as a lot of the smaller girls do but I tend to stay big.

Even though I like the product a lot, I think the marketing is skanky and designed to propogate an unrealistic ideal of the woman's body which most women can never hope to attain. (Of course, some of you have, and hats off to you!) Have you ever called in an order to their 1-800 number? The automated voice which answers has this sexy French accent... I just think they are too much.
I also have two young boys in the house and it is difficult to explain to them why it is okay for these women to prance about on TV in their underwear during commercials. Of course, my 13 year old now totally tunes me out when they are on, LOL.
Anyway, not trying to offend anyone. I just oppose marketing that is designed to make me feel bad about my mortal coil.

Wait till they start sending things saying I see you still haven't joinedx( . When my dh gets mail he doesn't want, including all of those preapproved credit card things, he puts return to sender and sends them back to them. Maybe afterwhile they will get the hint.

I get AARP mailings and I'm only 48. I'm not sure, but I think maybe if someone in your household is older, like your spouse or a parent, they automatically send it to you as well. I'm not sure what age they start, but regardless, doesn't bug me in the least. Getting old sure beats the alternative!

I get inundated with catalogs of furniture, expensive couture, beauty products, bed linens, kids' furniture, etc. Don't these people know I am an impoverished grad student?!!!
