I find it so amusing....

.... that nobody ever actually RESTS on their rest days! "Today is my rest day, so I'm just doing an hour of yoga", or "Today is my rest day, so I'm doing Stretchmax". Of course, this is coming from someone who is on a "40 days without a rest day" streak!

I guess in comparison to the all-out fitness fest that happens every other day for most Cathe-ites, it IS resting. Has anyone else noticed that the warm-ups for Cathe's workouts are workouts in and of themselves? For most "normal" people, the warm-up from any of the Hardcore series would constitute an actual workout.

I love this place!:)

I agree with you. I'm such an active person that I usually never have a "rest" day.

Joanne

Edited to say that I remember several years ago when doing the warm up in Imax, I would think to myself - And, this is just the warm up??? How am I ever going to get through this workout????

I'm coming up on my rest WEEK. Twice a year. So in two weeks I'm not gonna work out at all. I will be one cranky b!tch on wheels too, let me tell ya.}(

I have been forced into at least 3 rest days because of my back

The first ever time I did CK, I was so winded by the time I finished the "warm up" that I could hardly go on!!!

So do I:) :) :)

I can't sit still for long to actually "rest". LOL. DH is always telling me to sit down. After doing Legs/Glute, Core Max and Tri's/Bi's I finially did end up on the couch and fell fast asleep for a nice afternoon nap, but I still have to do Cardio tonight and now will have the energy to do it.
I really do think Stretch Max is a good one to do on your rest days because it is so relaxing and we all need the extra flexibility...so why not on rest days?? Yeah, guess I am guilty as charged on that one. ;-)

I actually rest on my rest day. I mean that depends on the rotation I'm doing because I sometimes "cheat" and do yoga, pilates, or some stretching. I have to say that I also HAVE to workout at least a couple of days weekly. I cannot take rest weeks otherwise I get really b*tchy. Does anybody know why that happens? It's weird because I have heard a lot of women say that too. Oh well, as long as I'm working out there won't be any incidents haha.

PS I also love this place!

Who are you calling Nobody? Lately, I have been known to rest on my workout days as well as my rest days. (But hopefully, since I slept like a normal person last night, that's about to change. Gonna break the sleeplessness streak. Go me!) I usually do several 2 and 3 hours advanced yoga classes on consecuitive days to make up for it. I have no problem taking a day or two off when I am doing the insomnia thing. The walking dead require no exercise, little food but plenty of coffee, green tea and water.

I actually consider yoga as resting. It's so relaxing and feels good. It feels better than sitting on the couch. Well, unless I have a really good book.

I don't know why it happens, but I'm the same. You don't wanna be around me if I haven't worked out. It's not pretty. Must be something to do with endorphins. Or maybe en-dolphins.

And Bobbi, you are a class unto yourself and are most assuredly NOT Nobody:D

You may not think that way when you see I have created a scenario whereby you are killed by A-Jock, trying to stop her Mish Moshes! I apologize for that but knowing PMS makes you mad,as in crazy, nutty kookoo, I figured you'd be the one woman wild enough to go there!

Bobbi - I'm just getting to where I can put my heels on the floor when doing a downward dog! Give me a couple months and I'll try your evil yoga. :)

Aaaah, Bobbi, you can kill me off anytime you want, just so long as you do it in that inimitable, oh so engaging Bobbi way:)

I have yet to try this killer yoga. I find regular yoga far too passive and all I find myself thinking is "okay, so when do I start sweating profusely and breathing heavily?".

Are you telling me that you are doing legs& Glutes, core work, weight training 2 upper body parts and cardio all in one day?

I hope you don't train like this all the time. Talk about overkill. I am seriously worried for you.

This would exhaust me within a week. I am finding that less is more in terms of results. And you certainly don't look like you have weight to lose Charlotte. Please take care.

I'm in exactly the same boat as Bobbi. Been suffering insomnia for last 6 months or so. Cannot guarantee when I will fall asleep: 2 am, 3am, maybe 6am......the walking dead do indeed take several days off per week, then make up for it with marathon sessions like Bobbi's yoga marathons or the one I did this Sunday past: all the S&H upper body workouts in one session, and I increased the weights.... I do not recommend it necessarily.....

Rest days are excellent when you cannot sleep at night.

Clare

Clare- I only did half of the Legs/Glute which I didn't get to finish on Sunday because of time. Core Max is just 30 mins, if that so it really wasn't too bad.

Evil yoga! Yes, that is perfect to describe it. Just don't tell the yogins because it's supoosed to be non-competivie and meditative but that's too boring. If they knew I have thoughts like "I am going to balance in handstand or die trying', or "Boy, I hope my stomach doesn't look fat when I'm upside down', they'd probably sit me donw and Om me or something! :) Namaste! ;)
