I died in my sleep this morning.

I was riding in a car and I felt this big jolt and realized that we were in the air then came down and was spinning wildly. During that time I closed my eyes because I didn't want to get dizzy and then said the "Our Father". While my eyes were closed there was bright light everywhere, and I woke up. My body felt like it was in fright mode. Very chilling.

I died twice in my dreams before this one. Many years ago and far apart, but never forgot it. Both by falling, and everything went dark slowly then nothing. I can't remember if there was light afterwords. My body felt the same sensation. Very scary.

Anyone else die in there sleep and from what? I can't be the only one, right? I don't think this is very common, but would like to know.

I think I have read it's not very common to actually die. Most of the time people wake up before, say, hitting the ground or getting shot, etc. I have definitely had some terrifying dreams, but don't remember actually dying in them. I usually wake up.

I have had periods in my life with some really weird dreams like that.. Certain medications make them worse. I broke my neck when I was 25 and they had me on some sort of a steroid in the hospital-- those were the worse dreams ever!! But, if you are somehow thinking that it is a "vision" or something- don't worry about that-- your mind might just be hashing out fears you have while you sleep and it works into your dreams.

check out dream interpretations on MSN.com., everytime I have a "death dream," my life changes drastically. my last big one that never ended caused me to determine what to do with all of my assets and debt.

I have had a few dreams of dying but they were long ago and I can't remember much detail. I have had the "I'm falling" dreams where I jerk awake. I can imagine the dying dreams are disturbing.

Wow Janie,
I can imagine that is very scary and disturbing. I don't think I've ever had dreams of myself dying but I've had them of family members dying and I've woken up from those crying. I'm not a dream expert by any stretch of the imagination but I've heard dreams can come from thoughts we've had throughout the day. Possibly you were driving in traffic one day and thinking about how dangerous it can be out there and that's where the dream came from? Like JT said, I'd check out that site for interpretations. Best luck for sweet dreams tonight :)

Yes, I have. A couple of times. I've frequently dreamed of falling and such, but only a couple of times have I actually felt death. I honestly don't remember the cause, but I do remember the feeling vividly. I distinctly remember thinking "This is what it's like to die", and waking up feeling very, very sad.

I have read that "death" dreams are related to changes in your life; letting go of something, leaving something behind, or entering into a new stage of life. The brain is very witty and likes using metaphors in our dreams which is why so many times they are confusing! Your dream may have something to do with the "driving force" in your life. Perhaps the things that were "driving" you in your life are changing and you are moving into another phase??? I love the fact that your experience was "enlightening" (with the bright light all around you). I think you should look at this positively, not very many people actually "die" in their dreams (you've experienced a profound thing!). Your brain is trying to help you come to grips with something. Embrace the joys in your waking hours and look forward to the new situations that are coming your way!

Thanks for sharing everyone, I really do appreciate it. I'm grateful I'm not alone. Will also take a look at the sites that were suggested.
