Good morning ladies!

Yesterday, while at the gym I did 3 sets of 8 bench presses with 2-45 lb dumbbells! I have been stuck with 40's for months now. And then I declined pressed my body weight (125) 10 times 2 with a spotter. I workout at The University of Chicago gym and let me tell you most of the "men" who workout are intellectual twigs with no idea of how to lift; so I kinda stick out like a sore thumb. I even try to hide in the corner while lifting to minimize the staring. Anyway, some big, burly football player had to come over and ask me how it felt to be lifting more than most of the men in the gym? I was so embarassed. Then he laughed and introduced himself. Anybody else ever feel out of place in a GYM?

Great for you, Suzanne! You show them how it is done!!!! That is amazing though with that kind of weight...Hercules Woman!!! You are really on a tear. Not sure how you manage such weight as I am lucky to do the same with 25lb db's. You are making some huge progress...we better watch out for you!!!! LOL! Rock On!!!!!

Wow Suzanne, that is impressive! I'm up to 30 lbs. dumbbells for bench presses and I'm wondering if I should go up from there? Your post has made me want to shoot for 40's!!! Great going!

Dang, girl!!! You totally rock!!! You sound just like my mom. She lifts those heavy weights and she is surrounded by men who can lift less than her, so they stay away from her while they lift so they don't feel like wimps. It is pretty funny! :p I think that instead of feeling out of place, she likes to torment them. }(

Wow Suzanne!! That is so awesome:) :) Doesn't it feel good to be strong? I'm really impressed that you could do that with dumbells. At my strongest I could bench press 80# with a barbell but had to drop down a bit with dumbells--I'm a little weaker on the left. I pressed 90# one time but was never able to do it again. I guess I was just particularly strong that day. YOU GO GIRL!!!

Hello again and thanks for all the encouraging words ladies:

I just wanted to mention that eating 5 meals a day and each meal containing protein is what I think has helped me increase my strength.

Suzanne

Suzanne--that's great!! (and I thought I was doing well moving up to 25's:p )

All you strong ladies give me something to go for:7

That just cracks me up. Good for you Suzanne. I just love the fact that you are lifting so much more and putting those men to shame. I feel bad for gloating but, Oh-well.

I also want to comment that I'm glad you have started posting again. Some of have missed you for a while there.
