I did it: my first 5K

The day started with sunshine and clear blue skies, but by the time I had to run it was cloudy, cold and very windy.

It was quite an experience, all these people!! I ran with my running buddy who unfortunately never ran a 5K before. She had to stop and walk four times to catch her breath. I kept running slowly with her and even backwards sometimes:) :) Talking to her about that we were on schedule (not), cheering her on, telling her to think happy thoughts. Anything to get her mind of the distance we still had to go. People running behind us were really giving me these strange looks :7 Well, guess it's not quite the thing to do in a race, running backwards I mean :)

Anyways, we finished together in 34:51. :) Which is fastest I've run ever, I think....

Yeah!! Congrats! I am very proud of you...Keep going and keep setting new goals for yourself. You should be very proud of yourself.

Thanks Bobbi,

Yes, that delighted me too, total strangers cheering for me, yelling how good I was doing, I smiled all the way to the finish line.

Sounds like a great experience Dutchie! Congrats....my sister ran the 100th Boston marathon, right next to a guy that ran the WHOLE thing backwards! For some reason I always enjoyed the strange looks that I get when doing something silly...:)...I'm doing my 1st half marathon in awhile on May 2nd....:)...Carole

Looks like we'll be running together on May 2nd:) I'll be running first and thinking of you.

Jeez, a marathon, your sister must have felt on top of the world! A half marathon is something that I have in the back of my mind ;-) But my immediate goal now is 10K. Then on 19 September there is the special Amsterdam Dam-to-Dam Run over 16.2K. So if I can make that, half a marathon might be something for next year:)
