I've been working on making one of our bedrooms into a workout space/home office for several months now. I had hardwood floors put in last summer, and it's been one decorating project after another since then. The latest was getting something to put my TV/DVD player and DVDs on. Even though I'm sick of "some assembly required" furniture (too much IKEA in my 20s), I found something that works with my PB desk at, well, PB. I patiently waited until after Christmas to see if it went on sale and, YEA for me, it was 1/3 off!
So my bookcase arrived and I excitedly unpacked it and rushed it upstairs for assembly. One minor hitch - NO INSTRUCTIONS included. I tried the website, no luck. Tried calling customer service and gave up after 20 min of trying to navigate the "Please press 1 for. . ." system. I decided to test my problem solving skills and figure out how to make 6 very similar pieces of white particle board into a nice looking bookcase using only parts A-G and a Phillips screwdriver. It was a pretty cool process, thinking through it logically (if there are 6 of this kind of screw, where are there exactly six holes to put them in, etc) and I only made one mistake!
I did it! I defeated Pottery Barn and their infernal put peg A into hole 3 instructions!!! And my workout room is looking good!
Here's the proof:
