I can't believe it!

My husband, me and my little one went to the pool last weekend and when we got back, my husband (very politely) said "you are losing it a little." This is totally okay since he's never had to say this to me ever before and because I am always on him about trying to lose weight and eat healthier, but, OH NO! I got on the scale and found out I had gained 10 pounds. Now what!?! I know I have taken some time off, okay a lot of time off from working out -no excuses, just lazy. How can I get back on track? Does the eliptical burn more than riding a bike/running on a treadmill? I need to slim my lower half and fast. What would be the quickest way.

One machine does not burn more calories than the other. Elliptical isn't better for burning more calories than treadmill or bike and vice versa. Treadmill involves impact and the others don't so I'd alternate.

Wanted to add what works the absolute best for me...

I do mostly low intensity, steady state elliptical and running...keeping my HR very low (under 150, often in the 130's) About 10% of my cardio, is higher intensity, interval type training.

Key is diet! First I'd clean that up since it is 85%.

Sarah, Thanks so much. I probably sound pretty pathetic, I guess I was just shocked from the scale. I am going to the gym tonight to do, like you said, steady state elliptical and eventually work up to running since I haven't for a few weeks. Diet is going to be the hard part! I can't believe how easy it is to lose it. Time to get my body moving. Thanks again. :)
