I am sweating bricks!!!

HOTCHICK

Cathlete
I have recently ordered the body blast series, but have been contemplating cancelling it, not because I dont want it, but because I have just sifted through my dvd/video collection getting rid of the ones that I dont really use, I have given 16 away and I am still contemplating another 8, which brings the total I have left to 90 workouts.

I am totally sickened with myself because I am asking my self do I really need another workout video, it almost feels like a sin, and the worst part of it is I have accumilated these in the space of a year.

Is this right? do I really need these or is it just greed? but on the other hand, what if I dont order them, and they are really good and I miss out?. I am sweating at the thought of ordering what I dont need, but then hey!!! its Cathe.
what would you do? ( bearing in mind I have not bought myself hardly any clothes for a whole year, and Ive got helmet hair) just kidding!!

However I do like variety as it helps me to keep working out at home

Hi Hotchick!

I know exactly how you feel. There were times also that I felt like it was a sin to have soo many vids. I, too, accumulated most of mine within a year or so and felt like it was an addiction. I have come to realize it is a GOOD addiction! :7 Granted, I don't use all the vids all the time, but like you said, variety is good. When I think of all the "good" that has come out of all the vids I have/use, I feel it has been a great decision. Heart, lungs, circulation, bone mass, strength, just plain ole feeling good, low cholestrol, good BP, just to name a few. As my Dr. put it...she said, "It is a pleasure to treat a HEALTHY patient!" That was music to my ears. I also think that your body gets used to what it does, so adding new Cathe's along the way is another reason to justify getting her new tapes. She always has a way of shaking up what we are used to doing. Not sure this helps, but I have convinced myself that all my tapes are a GOOD thing!

Compare the price of 100 exercise videos to the cost of one hospital stay or even a visit to the doctor. As for me, the medicines I no longer have to take now that I've lost weight and exercise regularly MORE than covers the cost of my exercise videos and equipment. Think of it as an investment in preventative medicine.

Buy the videos. :)

You COULD be addicted to cigarettes, and just set your money on fire, plus ruin your health. There ARE worse addictions, and I don't think a thing of getting the newest bunch.

I would go thru the 90 you have left and get rid of some more. You KNOW that these new Cathes will be better than some that you have left! It's a no brainer.
How's that for help?}( LOL!

I hear ya Hotchick!!! I have a quite a collection going now myself. Most of them I purchased used and this is how I justify myself. If I belonged to a health club, I would spend at least $40 a month on dues, plus I'd need better work-out clothes, new gym bag, etc. So actually, I'm saving money by increasing my home exercise video collection;-)

Hubby doesn't quite see it the same but hey, It works for me!!!!}(

Blessings,

Denise

I've had over 100 workouts for several years. If I had kept every single workout I'd ever bought in the last 12 years, I'd have several hundred, but I keep culling out videos/DVD's (and replacing them with others!). I'm currently doing a "dustbunny/virgin" check-in at videofitness.com, which is helping motivate me to go through workouts I haven't done for a while or have never done. In the 8 weeks I've been doing this, I've already put several workouts on the "get rid of" (Ebay or Yayas) pile. I really don't NEED 8 Tae Bo videos/DVD's, 4 or 5 are enough. I must also admit I got rid of some Cathe cardio workouts (step work like CTX and the Rhythmic Step DVD) because they just don't work for me and my knees.

It's good to have variety, but I'm in a "Spring cleaning" mood (it doesn't hit often!), and it doesn't make sense to me to have so many workouts that I couldn't possibly get to all of them in less than 6 months time!

I can totally relate although I do not have as many. I am lucky that I only use Cathe for my cardio and strength. The others are pilates, yoga (not much use) and abs routine (which is my problem area). I really do not think I need THAT many workouts. I have contemplating about selling my Cardio Hits DVD since I really do not use them much (once every 6 mo is not enough). I have plenty of step workout. I need more variety in kickboxing (which I have not found any except Cardio Kicks) and hi-lo (others do not compare to Cathe's MIC). Hence, I am sooooo glad for the Body Blast series!

I also believe that most instructors get better with time. For that reason, I will keep ordering from Cathe. If I ever need to reduce my collection, then I'll start with the older ones...

Hi everyone,

I feel so much better now,
it is true that I could be spending money on other unhealthier addictions, also it would cost me a bomb if I were to exercise at the gym, especially with the variety I like. so I suppose in the long term the benefits outweigh the costs also I am definately fitter and healthier than I have been in a long time, so it makes sense to keep the blast series on pre order.

I love you guys, (like Cathe says) you are an educated crowd.

By the way why cant I see this thread in the open dicussion?, I found it under new threads.

HOTCHICK;)

I don't know why the thread doesn't show, but I'm replying just to add my 2 cents. I use all of Cathe's workouts. The others I have, I do not use.

I am saving my Firms Vols 1 thru 3 (has anybody seen my Volume 1?) for sentimental reasons and in case I get deconditioned any time in the future. Same with Donna-mite: her choreo goes almost too fast to pick up, but I'm saving it in case. Hi-Lo Heaven by Christi Taylor I am saving too.

Cathe's choreography, form pointers, intensity level, and everything is just perfect. In total I have all Cathe's DVDs, 1 or 2 other DVD's, and about 15-20 other VHS tapes including duplicates, like the CTX series.

So I find it perfectly acceptable to own all Cathe's present and future works, plus a few more. I am very wary of buying other instructors' work now. I have enough Cathes to fill a year, with a few bike rides in there for variety. I consider my video life simplified.

Hi hotchick
I also suffer from video addiction however I just keep telling myself it would be spending money to be a member of a gym which is expensive these days.Even if I do the video only once I say that would be the cost of a step class. My problem is I also buy videos from instrucors I started with ie: Step it Strong by K.Roberts.I like her style but pretty basic. It's just not advanced like Cathe or Mindy.I support all of these instructors.I am loyal video fan.The really strange thing is I do not even get rid of them. They sit there.
Bye

Oh hun, get them they are soo worth it. If you wanted to you could sell some of your non-Cathe's to compensate but I wouldn't worry about it if I didn't want to sell anything.

We need a hobby all of us do. This is ours and you have every right to spend some bucks on new Cathe's every year. Why not?

Love
