Hi Cathe,

Has you tried or know anything about Hydroxycut?? And if yes what was the results or side effects.

Your comments are greatly appreciated.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-01-02 AT 04:29PM (Est)[p]I've never tried it. However, I have a co-worker who has. She reported negative side-effects from it. I believe she felt really jittery from it. She had problems concentrating and sleeping using the product.

I have tried Hydroxycut, Thyrolean and
Ripped Fuel (both Ephadra and Ephedra free).

Hydroxy cut is the only one that gave me scary side effects
including insomnia and rapid heart beats (I could
actually feel my heart spinning!!!). I also used
to have numbness on my right arm, sharp shooting
pains in my tummy and nausea. Oh and weird nightmares.
Like really scary ones!!! It's true, I am not making this
up!

The bottle recommends 2-6 capsules per day.
I only used to take 2 capsules, in the a.m.
(around 5:00 a.m.) per day. So I stopped taking
them!

Ripped Fuel - both versions: the only side effect I had
with that was insomnia. So if I made sure I don't
take it after noon then I could go to bed at 11:00 p.m.
and have a good night sleep.

I am NOT recommending any of them! I am stubborn, I had
to try and find out for myself, but I wish I had listened
to everyone who said don't use. Instead I listed to the people who said "everything in moderation". Oh well!

Warning though: Once I stopped using these I gained
weight because my appetite returned. It did not matter
that I was still working out 5 days per week. I ended
up gaining weight.

Today I don't use such supplements and find that as long as I do 45 minutes cardio 4 times per week I feel fitter and continue to lose weight.

I used to do Cathe's tapes per recommeded rotations. But I
found better results with sticking to her cardio workouts 4 times per week. And once a week, I do total body weights with either PH or MIS - light weights - nothing heavy because I wanted to concentrate on losing fat.

I have superb definition now - both my upper body
and legs look great. A little more fat around the belly
area and I can start working to achieve a 2-pack ab!

Please don't take these supplements. I had read so
many posts about people with side effects but I went
ahead and tried hydroxycut anyway. How I wish I had not!

Cheerio

Bad stuff

I tried Hydroxycut years ago. I took half the dose for 2 days to be "safe." My heart raced, I got headaches (cause I felt awful and couldn't eat a lot), felt too bad to workout, couldn't sleep. I basically lied in my dark bedroom. NOT worth it!!

I've tried Hydroxycut, and although I didn't have the terrible side effects, I had absolutely no results. I don't think they're worth the danger. The people who died after taking ephedra had no idea they would have problems with it. It's just too scary.

My doctor wants to put me on diet drugs because I'm having a tough time losing weight, but I'd rather just keep working on lifting weights, doing more cardio, and reducing the junk in my diet.

One thing people don't take into consideration when they are pondering using this supplement is that its metabolic enhancing effects are only temporary. They only work while you are taking the pills. Besides your body eventually getting used to the raised metabolism and not responding in the same way, once you stop taking these pills your metabolism will just go back to the way it was before and you will probably gain all the weight back eventually. That is, any pounds you actually lost DUE to exclulsively Hydroxycut.

If I thought my metabolism was forever going to stay elevated and I was going to burn calories forever like the Energizer Bunny, well, that would be one thing. But the pills are expensive, there are many risks, and they won't work forever unless you plan on taking them forever (HOPEFULLY NOT).

I am not altogether innocent when it comes to Hydroxycut. My husband had some extra pills and, I will be honest, I was curious. So I took one before I did Cardio Kicks for ENERGY. My heart was beating so fast I thought it was going to burst out of my chest and by the end of the very hard to get through workout, my body was all red due to increased blood flow?? I know the pills do something to your circulation. I took them a few more times before my cardio workouts and noticed that my workouts actually seemed HARDER due to the fact that my heart was racing. Then I did CK without pills and it was SO MUCH easier. So I was less than enamored.

I would take these pills every now and then for energy if I didn't just have coffee....that is also a hell of a lot cheaper. BUT I would never take them consistently for weight loss. It won't last forever!!!! Besides, sometimes you "think" it is the Hydroxycut that took the weight off you, but you are still exercising and probably more intensley. Many times, it really is not the Hydroxycut that made the difference, it really is other things in the person's lifestyle that they failed to realize.

Just my honest opinion...Janice

I also notice that the effects you get after taking Hydroxycut during a hard cardio workout are almost exactly similar to the effects I had when I got heat exhaustion one day from working out at noon outside in Phoenix. The horrible headache that lasts all day from dehydration and the red flush was exactly the same on Hydroxycut. The bottle should advise you not to take the pills before cardio, only weight training. I don't know about you, but I don't need my heart rate artificially elevated at all during a Cathe cardio. No thanks...Janice

A doctor once confiscated my Hydroxycut and told me that Ma Huang, Ephedrine, all that crap had the same effect on the body as heat exhaustion!!! It is low grade speed. It is like taking tons of caffiene, then running in the sun for an unhealthy amount of time. I would much rather feel the 'high' from a Cathe cardio session, than the unhealthy rush from a pill. P.S. I also got bloody noses and picked up a nasty teeth grinding habit during my Hydroxycut days. What the heck was I thinking!?! Please consider the healthy alternatives to achieving fitness.
