Hurricane Irene

The expected path is scary. It is currently at a 2 but expected to raise to 3 once it hits near DC. Evacuate people!!

Who'd have thought we'd experience a good jolt of an earthquake and a hurricane in the same week.
Hope the folks out on our coast here in NC are getting the heck out of Dodge!

Huge prayers your way!! I've been keeping and eye on the storm on the Weather Channel.

Hang in there!

Pam

Hurricane

I am on the barrier island, Long Beach in NY, there should be mandatory evacuation notices up by 5 tonight. We are staying put. Good luck to all

We here in NC are ready. We are a little inland so that helps, but it is getting windy and all flashlights, computers, and anything else that needs a battery or charged are done. Hopefully, we won't loose power. Prayers to all on East Coast!!!

All of you on the East Coast stay safe. Hopefully, the path of the storm will take it further out into the Atlantic without too much damage to the coastline. We deal with this every summer and fall living in Mississippi so I know what you are going through. The summer Katrina hit was the worst.

Hurricanes are very dangerous. I've unfortunately had to experience many of them living in South Louisiana. Pretty scary stuff. Pray all goes well for everyone!

Since I have lived in Florida I have been through a few hurricanes. In 2004 we had a cat. 2 storm that stalled directly over us for days and left everyone without power for almost 2 weeks, a week after our power came on we had a direct hit from a cat.3, this finished off roofs and houses and trees that were weakened by the first storm. Then another 10 days without power (in hot Florida). I get scared everytime I see one out there. Be safe and listen to the warnings. Luckily Irene is a weaker storm then orginally thought!!

Silbow, and any others in the direct path, please stay safe. Here in New Brunswick, Canada, we are in the direct path, but the hurricane should be downgraded to a tropical storm when it hits here.

This storm is big. The first clouds have come over our heads here, from the storm, yet the eye of the storm is now (at 2:30EDT) along the coast of Virginia.
