HSTA - yikes!

I previewed HSTA and it looks really hard. Just for reference all of Cathe's other circuit workouts for me are challenging but not undoable. For some reason this one seemed like it would be extremely hard. I am scheduled for a circuit workout on Friday and I want to try this, but am scared!!! Is it really that bad???

TIA,

Karin

I love HSTA, but it is a tough one! It is very doable, but you'll need lots of energy. It packs a lot into an hour. I always feel very worked out. When I need a good challenge I do this one.

Have fun! Also, the pre-mixes are great!

Yes, I agree very doable and you will feel really charged afterwards! It has some unique moves (one armed dips and side to side pushups off step) that are fantastic. I LOVE this one! Enjoy :)

i tried this one this morning. don't try it when you low on energy. i was having a heck of a time(a little lack of sleep last night). its a great workout and some of the moves are quite different so that was a great thing. the cardio segment are like OH MY GOD, the fast feet on the box then bring it back down to do more stepping and fast feet. and my buns were still a little sore from low-max yesterday.

This is an awesome workout as is and the premixes are stellar. Yesterday I ran a couple of miles then did the cardio and lowerbody premix, what a fabulous leg workout! Enjoy!

I just pulled this one out the other day, after not doing it for a while. It's definitely a challenging, but doable, workout. Though it should be called "Leg Press Max," LOL! (I make sure to mix up the leg presses, so I do every other set from the side, to hit some inner/outer thigh, and keep from doing the exact same ROM on each set. I also did the last set with no weight, but increasing the step height by one riser.)

Thanks ladies! I am still scared of it, but feel much better about tackling it. I actually don't know if I will do it this week because last week turned into a light/rest week due to traveling. I don't want to push too hard this week, but I'll see what I feel like on Friday morning. I'll post again after I do it!

Kathryn - Thanks for the leg press variation suggestions. That is a great idea.

Karin, I "just" did HSTA for the first time and I'm a sweatin'. :) I really did enjoy it. I can't do high impact moves because of back problems so I modified those moves for similar lower impact ones and it worked out fine. Some people have commented that they didn't like the way the beat of the music changed from slower to faster. I don't think I EVER noticed that. I was too busy concentrating on what I was doing. :p You will definitely enjoy this one! Have fun!!!

I tried this yesterday for the first time. Wow, it kicked my butt. I was feeling a bit low on energy but felt I needed to get something in yesterday after taking a few days rest so I thought I'd give this one a whirl. I had to make some modifications at the end but I made it through. Side benefit - I slepped better last night than I have in a long time. I'll definately break this one out again when I need a challenge.

LOL I think it's funny that people care much about the music in this one at all. It really is quieter background, and with all that sweatin' and hustlin', I amazed anyone can even hear it :p As long as it's not super loud crazy mosh pit music (although that might make for an interesting w/o..) I'm okie dokie.

Well, I did this workout this morning and it was great. Hard, but not undoable. I like it and I sweated up a storm.
