HSC band substitute?

Hi everyone -

I've just previewed High Step Challenge, and have a question about the bands. I don't have bands, but I do have tubing with handles. I know I can use the tubing for all the upper-body exercises, but the tubing is just too short for the leg presses. What's the next best thing (besides buying bands)? Holding a plate? Light dumbbells? In what position? Flexed in a bicep curl or on the shoulders? Or just no weights? I'm just not sure how the bands feel and which muscles they target, so it's hard for me to come up with an equivalent substitute.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

In several of Cathe's w/o she holds one dumbell, an end in each hand, in front of her at chest level while doing leg presses on the high step. She also "hugs" a weight plate in front of her chest in ME, I think, while doing leg presses. She also uses a weighted barbell on shoulders to do leg presses in w/o's. It's a little different effect than the band, as that band gets down in those muscles a little differently. As Cathe says, "that band really gets in there..."

Hope that makes sense and helps.:)

Just FYI. The band with shipping only cost about $8.00 @ Fitness wholesale I got a 6 ft one. I am 5'8" As mentioned above cathe states Nothing gets in their like the band work. You can immediately notice the distance. As a substitution you could do either a plate or a dumbell.
