Howard Stern to replace Simon Cowell

I think this would make for great t.v. Though, I am a Howard Stern fan, so maybe that's why. :D

Could Howard Stern be the next Simon Cowell?
The New York Post reports that the producers of American Idol are eager to hire Stern for the show. The Page Six item says that Stern is the show’s top choice to take over from Cowell, who will leave the show at the end of the current season. Stern’s current contract with Sirius XM (SIRI) expires in January 2011.
An excerpt from the Post:
A source connected to “Idol” said, “It’s one of the few shows that could compete with Stern’s $100 million-a-year Sirius contract, and ‘Idol’ bosses think he’d be even nastier than Simon.
“They know he would be great TV and would clash with the other judges such as Ellen DeGeneres and the contestants. ‘Idol’ will do what it takes to sign him.”
But a second source told us Stern hasn’t made the “Idol” talks easy, and has been giving out mixed messages about his intentions.
“Despite what he’s been saying on-air, Howard isn’t ready to leave radio and would like to stay on at Sirius,” the source said. “We believe this is a ploy to make Sirius pay up and keep him on his huge contract. But if Sirius can’t pay him the money he wants, he may negotiate to film ‘Idol’ on the side.”

The piece added that Stern is believed to be reluctant to commit to a show that would require him to tour the U.S. as a judge and to spend much of the year in L.A., where the show is filmed.
SIRI today is down 2 cents at 82.5 cents.

Not a fan of Stern.

If (and I doubt it) he is on American Idol to replace Simon Cowell, then I quit watching.

My opinion is that Howard Stern would make the show about HIM and not about the quality of ther performers. I am not a fan.

I also do not have a high opinion of Kara. Without Simon it just will not be the same.

Maybe I'm just tired of tv shows, 24 just does not seem to hold my interest either. The only show I like and get a good laugh out of is Modern Family.

I used to LIVE for 24, this season is not holding my interest as much either. I still like to watch my boyfriend, Kiefer though :eek:. And the same thing with Nip/Tuck. I was sad when they said it was the last 6 shows, DEPRESSED even, but the last few shows, I'm like "whatever".

LOVE Modern Family and The Middle is pretty funny too!
 
Stern is the only celebrity I can think of that would keep me watching Idol if/when Simon leaves. I'm with you Jennie, I'm a big fan!
 
Jennie - I *heart* Howard, too! Having him host AI would be the only thing that would make me watch it! :p

Personally, I'm hoping he renews his contract with Sirius.

A lot of people think that's all Howard talks about is sex and porn stars, but if you listen to the show, you know that's not true. Whenever he starts talking about porn stars, or has them on his show, I just turn it till that segment is over.

I'm not sure if there is any other celebrity that I'd watch other then Howard. I wish Simon would stay, but that's not going to happen. :(
 
I love AI but I WILL NOT watch if grubby Howard Stern is on there. Just can't stand him. He's so nasty and crude. Surely there is someone that is qualified and not disgusting.

Jennie - I think he's one of the best celebrity interviewers in the business. He can get people to talk about things that other interviewers won't touch (not just sex either).

I totally agree. He can interview someone who I don't even like or who I think would be a boring interview and I'll be totally blown away with how interesting it is.
