How did you & your sister do? More importantly, did you have FUN? I hope so! Please share your experience...

I had a great time! It was really windy and that made it hard! My time was 52:03 and I was a little disappointed at first since my best 10K time is 48:13 and that 10K is hilly. But I also ran 35 miles a week in those days and have only been doing 12 to 18. I have never learned to pace myself. I go out too fast then poop out at the end. There's room for improvement but I had a great time. Got a 3rd place in my age group and am already planning to train for the next one! There are some lovely people to hang with at the races including my sister Mel, who also took third place with a 47 minute time. She's a speedster! Racing is such a hoot! I was still smiling at the finish!

CONGRATULATIONS~WOO HOO!

Congratulations on placing 3rd and having fun while doing it :)
Running against the wind should be a whole new racing catagory, it surely must make it more difficult.

Yea!! I'm so glad you had a great time. For me, racing is all about having fun first, then trying to PR. Your time is great and 3rd is nothing to sneeze at! Sounds like you're ready to train for another one!! :)

Thanks for sharing!

My sister rocks!

Marnie,

My sister, who is my "big sister" even though she's a slip of a thing, ran hers in 46:54! She, who was an avowed walker until a couple of years ago! She's a speedster.

I am torn. I know I can run faster but I really love the mix I have going now and don't want to up my weekly mileage very much. When I run too much my body breaks down. I have a collapsed arch on my left foot and wear orthotics and really great New Balance running shoes to be able to correct the imbalances caused by my pesky feet.

I really need to learn to pace myself. The racing is a blast and I felt great all day. The diasappointment I felt was very mild and I think I may be getting mellow in my old age! I actually kept up my energy, picked up a few times even at the end, got around one woman and pulled ahead of another at the finish line. So I amy be slower but overall, I improved my performance! I am only mildly competitive and mostly compete against my own time.
The only workout I am doing today is Yoga.
