How to wear a scarf?

I just received a gift of a gorgeous black, gold and red silk scarf. It's beautiful, but I am totally clueless about how (if??) to fold the thing and wear it. I have a black suit jacket and a cream suit jacket I could definitely wear it with. I was too embarrassed to ask the person who gave it to me how to wear it. Anyhow have experience with these things? Thanks!! :D
 
Thanks!! My mother was always trying to get me to accessorize and wear scarves, etc, but I think I'm missing the accessorize gene.
 
I know how you feel. For me accessorizing is putting on a pair of earrings and I only do that once or twice a week. I never know what goes with what or how to dress it up.
 
The only jewelry I wear anymore is a ring and a watch. Gave up on necklaces and earrings long ago, I think, partly, because they irritated my skin.
 
I didn't follow the link, but if the scarf is long enough to do this, fold it in half, then thread the loose end through the "noose" end. Tuck the edges into your suit. I'm sure you will look fab!

I love scarves and was really depressed that they seemed to be going out of style again!

Actually, I'm MORE depressed because I just flipped through the June issue of Elle magazine (I was on a plane with little choice) and noticed that three of their "top 10" items for fall include...

* Black leggings
* Oversized sweaters
* Booties

WTH!!! I wore that outfit in college! UGH!

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for asking this question! I have several lovely scarves (a couple of which I knitted myself) and I am completely scarf-impaired!!!

Leggings/oversized sweaters...ugh!! I have enough problems camouflaging figure flaws. Why would I *want* to make myself look heavy? :p
