How to use Cardio & Weights?

I guess this refers to CMax too. How do you use these in a rotation? Do they count primarily as cardio, or as strength. I'm a bit confused. Any information is greatly appreciated.

I would consider them to be a cross training workout.CMax is a little different b/c the weights aren't so heavy.I usually use mine, when I took a day off from exercise or when I did a strength workout and I didn'get sore. This would also include Body MAx.Yesterday I did the gaulant and I did some of the upper body moves(I was primarily doing it for the cardio)and today I have PUB scheduled.I don't mind lifting again today b/c yesterday I was only using 8 and 10lbs weights.Just listen to your body.
There are probably some rotations out there for those videos but I don't have any.For me, I just throw them in when I want to do them. When I want a change or when I want to get a totally body workout in 1 hour.Hope I helped,
Lori

I agree with Lori in that you should use it on days you want a total body workout. However, make sure to be careful to give your body time to recover. Most agree there should be 48 hrs of rest before working the same muscle group. As long as you are going light on the wts you should be alright. However, I do know that I had some serious issues with over training when the Intensity series first came out.

Just listen to your body! If it is telling you "go for it" then you should be alright just as Lory said. However, I am still a believer that your muscles can't grow without the recovery period!

Good luck!

RE: How to use Cardio & Weights?

good question. I've been experimenting with the intensity series and found that I need to consider CW as an upper body weights plus cardio day. The brief lower body stuff with CW doesn't count for a lower body day for me, it seems pretty light. But I can't do any significant upper body work the day before or after CW when I use weights heavy enough to keep my heart rate up with that workout.
On the other hand, circuit max has much shorter weight intervals and there is so much cardio that I just do very light weights for the circuits and have no problem at all keeping my heart rate aerobic. So I use CM as a cardio day, so I can do weights the day before or after that.
Hope this helps!
