How to hold dumbells

Hi to all, please help.

Due to injury, I've tried dumbells instead of weighted bar.

I am using heavy weights - eg. each dumbell weighs 22 lbs (44lbs total) or each dumbell weighs 27.5 ilbs. (55lbs).

How do you hold the dembells when doing legs? Squats and lunges?

Many thanks in advance.

Andrea

You can hold them at your sides, or rest a dumbell on each shoulder.

For squats I find the shoulder position most comfortable and I hold them at my sides for lunges.

Rather than rest the dumbells ON the shoulders, which I find very uncomfortable, I hold them against the front of the shoulders, like at the top of a hammer curl, but higher. (In "Firm" workouts, they always held them on their shoulders, and I could never figure out how they could do that, because a weight of any appreciable size HURTS there on me!)
