How often do you take an extended rest?

I know the rotations call for a day or two of rest each week, but how many take 3-7 days at a time for a break away from the workouts. Do you schedule regular breaks between your rotations?

I'm thinking of doing 4-5 weeks of workouts and a full 7 day rest period before starting another rotation.

I'm on Day 5 of rest right now and it feels great. For some reason, I still feel sore from all the working out before -- I guess I was really pushing myself doing 80 minutes 6 days a week. I can't wait to feel refreshed!
 
2-3 times a year. I try to limit it to every 4-6 months but sometimes things like illness & work get in the way. Usually my body lets me know when it's time. If I feel physically & mentally exhausted, if I'm not enjoying my exercise, I know it's time for a rest.
 
I really only take an extended rest when I go on vacation, so really only twice a year. Right now I'm on "forced" rest due to family issues. I worked out last Friday but won't be able to workout again until next Sunday or Monday. I'm going nuts!!
 
usually when i go on vacation or when i get sick. i don't plan them. there has been times when i can feel run down and i'll take about a week off b/c i know my body needs it. this usually happens once a year if i haven't taken a week off yet.
 
Good topic! I was thinking on the same thing, of having my rest days for vacations and family visits like around Christmas time. I am an at-home-stay-mom but I am always busy with the usual mom errands... kids and all... so, I am thinking that my rest week will be around Christmas time when my mom comes to visit.

Then again, who knows....
