How much water?

Dear Cathe and Others,

Since the rotations involve a lot of cardio, lasting longer than 30 minutes and weight training, what is the rule regarding water, how much should we be drinking based on your experience? I do find that when I drink 3L per day, I have more endurance. Is this in my mind? or is there any validation to this?

Thanks

Yvonne

Hi Yvonne! You will hear many versions of how much water is a good amount. I like to tell people to drink a minimum of 8 to 10 (depending on size of individual) eight ounce glasses a day on non workout days. But if you live in hot climates or take allergy med's or have any situation that will dehydrate you more than the norm, I would encourage even more water intake. On your workout days, I encourage 3 to 4 additional eight ounce glasses of water per workout(more if your workout was especially vigorous, in an extreme climate, or lasting more than 60 minutes).

Water has a huge long list of wonderful things it does for your body. To name a few as they pertain to working out...

1) helps regulate body temperature
2) helps wash lactic acid build up out of our system
3) generates new cell production and aids in muscle recovery
4) promotes better strength and endurance
5) keeps body organs well lubricated to promote optimal performance

Hope this helps!

Dear Cathe,

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I truly enjoy your workouts and I hope your recovery is going well.

Take Care,

Yvonne
