Mesa,Az: 2.69 a gallon for regular unleaded which goes in my camaro and my long bed truck. My blazer I have to put the expensive gas in (not diesel)or I get a knocking in the engine and that is 2.89 a gallon.
I live in southern Indiana and it is about $2.59. But, we went to Evansville this weekend and it was $2.43-$2.47. Why do these prices vary so much from state to state, town to town??
First, I didn't mean to jack your thread. I have no idea why the prices vary so much. I know that when you get into the towns that are considered BFE the prices are really high because there is noone else around.
It was $2.41 for regular at one of the cheapest stations around here the last time I checked, if I remember correctly and it's only
gonna go up thanks to Katrina!!! (or so they say!) x(
PA is down to 2.49-2.52.

Mucho expensive in Northern Illinois/Chicago area! I saw $2.79 this morning on my way to work. Down in the city it's $3.00/gallon. I heard on the news this morning that with Hurricane Katrina, it's expected to jump .30-.40 overnight.
$2.85, give or take 5 cents for super unleaded, which my car needs.x( I only go out when I NEED to.x( When did DRIVING to the neighborhood grocery store or driving your kid to school become a LUXURY?x( x( x(
I live in rural Maryland. I just bought gas this morning for $2.63/gallon at the gas station near my home. In suburban Maryland where I work, gas is about $2.79. My parents live in yet another part of Maryland and it is a bit cheaper there usually. The cost certainly varies from town to town.
ETA: My next car will definitely be a hybrid.

do you guys remember when we were complaining a few years ago when the prices jumped all the way to $1.30? what I wouldn't do for those prices again!!!!
Like Pinky's car, our SUV requires super at $2.62 + or -. I try not to let it get empty so that it doesn't cost over $60 at the gas pump... it makes me feel better. I enjoy the room and comfort of our SUV... oh and I like horsepower too... but I wish it had better gas mileage.
Average for unleaded in SE Wisconsin is $2.70. I filled up today in case it really does jump overnight. We were up to $2.79 but it dropped down a little.
The reason it fluctuates so much from state to state and city to city is because of state and local taxes imposed by the wonderful government.
Boo!!
