How much can you lift when pregnant?

I just took a test a week ago and found out I am pregnant! YEAH!

I was wondering how much weight can I keep lifting while pregnant? I haven't been exersizing lately cause I feel so crummy right now but I want to stay strong during this pregnancy. What have you been doing? Any tips on how to exersize when you are nauseaus?

Congrats HeidiSue!

Lift what you feel comfortable lifting. Simple but true. You'll likely naturally decrease in some areas. Lunges, for instance. I'm a month from my due date and weighted lunges are nearly impossible. But for UB not much has changed.

You're not supposed to lie on your back for exercising (abs, chest, etc) as it cuts off blood flow to the baby.

As for being nauesous - just do your best to get thru it. I had a 3-wk. spell in my first tri. that I barely exercised at all. Take a walk if that's all you can muster. In your 2nd trim. you'll be back at Imaxing!;)

Congratulations!!!:D

Oh, how exciting. I'm sure anyone would tell you to do what feels comfortable. Many are able to lift as much weight pregnant as they were pre-pregnancy...though that first trimester was tough for me. I found the timesaver workouts were great during that first trimester AND those last few weeks of pregnancy. Hopefully you don't feel too crummy, but if you do, take it easy - and try not to feel guilty about it (I know, that's easier said than done :))

Hey Heidisue! I'm 10weeks pregnant. I'm at that crummy feeling too. I haven't exercised much but I did today. After a few weeks of just a few cardio session my strenght was down alot. I just do what feels comfortable. Just don't strain and don't try to up your endurance. Main thing is listen to your body. Congratulations.

Thanks so much! I am so glad that I can continue to lift weights. I am positive it makes a difference during labor. I am going to try and get a workout in some time this week, maybe a few depending on my days. I can't wait till I hit the second tri-mester. I know I will feel so much better then.

Thank you once again, it's so fun to hear encouraging words and congrats! :) Heidisue
