How many calories per day / Food variety

RE: Calories

Thanks everyone for the responses. Here in Florida, we survived
another hurricane.

I was reading another thread, where the poster said on the
weekends she drinks beer and has fun.(eating?) That may have
something to do with my wife's struggles as well. Thanks to this
msg board, I found calorieking.com and looked up items from our
fave place to eat, Chili's, and I was blown away. I would not doubt
on an average visit there, that we each eat 2500 calories or more.
We used to go once a week, but now it's about twice a month. The
amount of calories and saturated fat is amazing.

I think my wife does really well with her eating during the
day, but then at night, we eat not so well far too often. It's hard
when we both look so forward to good tasting, very bad for us, food.
Another weakness is Tombstones frozen pizzas. 1 small one has over
900 calories. We both must find healthier foods that we love,
because I know I'm eating way too much saturated fat. Beer is mainly
my weakness (she only drinks one or two Zima's on occasion).

Again, thanks to everyone. The health parade marches on!

I have lost 101 pounds with Weight Watchers and being active. I highly recommend it! If it is at all possible to find a meeting in your area, I suggest meetings. They are a great source of support. It might be helpful for your wife to be around other people who are dealing with, or have dealt with, the same issues she is going through.

Variety (both in eating and exercise) is one of the many encouraging and helpful topics covered in meetings. They could help your wife figure out the plan that works best for her (there are two choices now, the Flex Plan and the Core Plan). Then, they can provide coaching on a weekly basis with any struggles and challenges she may be facing. And the commeraderie with other members is GREAT!)

I am guessing that she would do REALLY well on the Core Plan. No kidding, my cravings are all but gone now that I switched to this (their newest) program. It focuses on healthy fruits and vegatables, lean meats, whole grains, etc. It is a wonderful program.

To find a meeting in your area, go to www.weightwatchers.com . They have a "find a meeting" function right on the front page.

If there are no meetings possible, the next alternative is Weight Watchers online. She can do the program via the internet. Her support system in this case would be people on the Weight Watchers message boards. People DO have success going this route. And, many find that meetings are preferable if they can get to them.

If you would like to see the results I have acheived with Weight Watchers and exercise, feel free to go to my website at http://www.freewebs.com/jtshotone . Be sure to congratulate your wife and have her reward herself (not food) for her efforts. She deserves it! :7

Never do grocery shopping on an empty stomach! You will be prone to buy impulsively, more and unhealthy food. I'm talking from my experience. Last time we made grocery shopping, we went with a full stomach and we were able to do better choices.
