How high should my step be ?

I do have a step that looks just like the one thats used in Rythmic Step and I use 8 inches high when doing like a Kathy Smith tape but I am wondering if I should just use the 1st level only and not any of the risers ? This is the first step tape Ive done of Cathe's so it should be interesting... I do want a good workout, Im just thinking to learn the steps... or maybe have it be 6 inches ? Any thoughts ? I can't wait looks like fun though Im sure I will either be laughing at myself or yelling at the TV, LOL!

Laura, first of all welcome to the world of Cathe cardio! Second of all, I think that when I first tried Cathe, I used a six inch. I still do now as well. I think you should try it at whatever level you feel the most comfortable using. If you start with a six inch and feel it's too high because you are affraid of tripping, or your exersion (sp) level is too high, then lower it. I'm sure there are a lot of women out there that have other thoughts too. I think I've even read that one tried it with out the step just to learn the moves. I may be remembering wrong, but that may be a thought as well. Like I said it's what you feel comfortable using.
