How do I fight it?

I exercised 7 days in a row this week in order to have tonight as a rest day so that I could hang with some friends. Well now it looks like these plans are cancelled...I am going to go home to an empty house coz DH not around on a miserable/cold night and I am automatically gonna be chompin' at the bit to throw in a video and get moving! How do I avoid succumbing to the urge? HELP ME! Plus, to make matters worse...if I don't exercise, I will get really bored and end up wanting to shove all kinds of garbage food in my mouth! x(

Have a great work out!

Why don't you do some stretching or yoga?? I think you need to rest..especially since you are pregnant. Just my .02 cents.

I totally agree Aila! If I were not pregnant I would probably just give in and not really worry about it but my baby is what makes me nervous about pushing it too far.

I have 2 pregnancy dvds that i don't like coz to me they are way to easy....I guess I can pull one of them out and do something easy going if I really get antsy. Do you think a low impact, very very low intensity salsa w/o for 2o mins would be too much?

I got a yoga tape for Xmas that I have been putting off trying because I tried a yoga stretch at the beginning of my pregnancy and it bothered my back...but I guess I could try that too and if it is uncomfortable I can cut it short...

You worked out 7 days straight already, so I would do the yoga if I were you. If you get antsy paint your toenails, do a home facial etc. Do something to keep you busy or eat some healthy snacks.

Hi Wendy,

Do a stretch or yoga workout. Take a relaxing shower after a beauty treatment. Eat a sensible dinner. Get a tray of veggies ready to fill your oral fixation caused by bordom. Brush your teeth (dosen't work for me but others have suggeted this). Sit in front of this message board and post away to lose track of time. Read a book to relax and go to bed.

More than you asked for  ,

Hi Wendy,
Sorry to hear your plans got cancelled. I think yoga is a great idea! Make it a whole "relaxation" night! Sometimes when my DH is away I'll rent a couple of chic-flicks that I've been wanting to see! Or take a bubble bath ... etc...
Well take care!
Cathy :)

I agree Kathryn! Wendy, just hang here and run you "mouth" with the rest of us!! Sorry your plans got caneled. my dh isn't getting home until 9 and i am starving!!!! but i will wait and cook dinner late because i am so awesome!!! (yea right) See ya!!

Wendy,

My fav thing to do if I'm not working out is to plan my workouts. Maybe you've already got a plan in place, but if not, you could play around with new ideas for mixing up your workouts, and plug them into your daytimer.

Rest!

I had the same problem yesterday. My rest day and I was sooo full of energy! I got out my exercise log book and my videos and figured out some rotations for later;-)

RE: How do I fight it? To do when I get time list

I know this suggestion is too late for yesterday but perhaps it will work for future situations. I have a "to do, when I have time list". I have one for work and one for home. Unlike a normal to do list this is stuff I would like to get to, but is not a priority for that day. On my home "to do, when I get time" list are things like organize the bottom two shelves of my linen closet, clean up a hot spot (hot spot as defined by the Fly lady), clean out my car etc. That way, if I have unexpected free time on my hand, I tackle one or more of these jobs and have a feeling of accomplishment when I am finished. I also have one of these lists at work for days when appointments or meetings get cancelled. :)

What works for me is to do a household project like cleaning out cabinets and drawer or painting walls etc.. Then also hobbies like knitting, crocheting , painting projects etc. keeps me busy so I don't want to eat. Reading & television leads me to snack.
