This past Christmas, I was channel surfing, sitting in front of the TV late one night and munching on Christmas cookies. I knew that was a bad habit but I couldn't help myself. I turned to the FitTV channel and IMAX 2 was on. I can't remember which interval it was (I think it was the one with the fast foot tapping) and when I saw it I said , "that's crazy!" So I continued flipping through all of the channels and when I couldn't find anything worth watching, I started back at the beginning and flipped through stopping once again on FitTV. I watched the plio jacks and airborne jacks and was amazed. I had never seen anything like that before. I usually did "machine-style" cardio or TaeBo. I couldn't understand how any of the crew could remember all of the choreography and figured that Imax2 was "out of my reach" as I am challenged in that department. I was fascinated nonetheless, and somewhat inspired.
The next time I turned it to FitTV, Step Blast was on. I remembered it was during the "slam!" part and I said, "now THAT I can do". I kept watching and thought of how strenuous this workout was but it inspired me enough to purchase it and chisel away at the choreography. I also bought IMAX2 at the same time and stored it away "for later use". I couldn't believe how fast my feet were going during StepBlast and that I knew new choreography terms! I worked on it every other day for 1 1/2 months and made it through StepBlast. I knew Imax2 was still too tough for me so I did other Cathe workouts and before I knew it, I had enough strength and stamina to get through Imax2. I still modify Intervals 5 & 9 but I am getting there.
I think back to that first time I saw Cathe on TV and how I thought I'd never be able to finish one of her workouts. But I have to tell you all, that it became a personal goal of mine to get through Imax2 and when I was finally able to "clear the board and do jumping jacks" in Interval 9, I had tears of joy in my eyes! I had tears of pain from the airborne jumping jacks soon after but that's another story.
I'm interested to read about your first introductions to Cathe!
