How clean is YOUR colon?

i am no biology whiz or anything but i was under the impression that the body naturally rids itself of all this. then again i can see if all you eat is junk and overly processed foods that it could cause issues, but healthy ppl is it really necessary? and aren't a lot of the pills and procedures just downright dangerous that many won't tell you?

i love his ending points of this artificial. simply eat better and avoid the claims. i fear anything that claims "fast weight loss".

I believe in letting the body take care of itself. I'm sure someone might feel "better" afte a cleanse since losing alot of water weight etc would probably make you feel lighter with a flat stomach, kinda the same effect you'd get from chugging a bottle of Milk of Magnesia.

I've always been leary about these things, too! Why put your body through a process like this? That is the job of the intestines anyway! I could never do a colon cleanse!

Enemas/colon cleaning for health is one of the oldest health boondoggles in existence. The body is an amazing machine and takes care of waste on its own. Just my opinion.

Finally! A common sense approach!

I get very weary of the continuous "cleansing" threads that crop up - this article is very good and debunks the validity of cleansing. It IS nothing but a quick fit to initiate fast weight loss, nothing more, nothing less. THANKS FOR POSTING IT!!!!!!!!

What!?!? You mean Kevin Trudeau's Colon Cleanse is a scam?;) But I bet his "Debt Cures" are on the up and up...

Thanks for posting that, Morningstar.

Frankly, I don't want to know what is in my colon!!!!:eek:

Seriously, that whole cleansing thing is called " MARKETING". Just like all the magazines and articles and commercials that GUARANTEE weight loss in 5 minutes just by calling this number now!!!!

Funny that you should post this!

Last night DH and I watched the Penn&Teller episode mentioned at the bottom of Tom's article. Very funny.

I just read "The Raw Food Detox Diet" by Natalia Rose. I got it mainly to get her recipe for Green Lemonade. (By the way, all the recipes for green drinks posted recently on these forums sound just as good or better!) Anyway, while I appreciate eating clean, natural raw foods, I was disappointed with all her talk about having to constantly cleanse your colon. (Guess I should have known by the word "detox" in the title that there was gonna be some "colon cleansing" mentioned...)

While I was reading it, I kept thinking that if you're eating healthy enough, your body should take care of itself and you shouldn't have to do constant enemas, etc... Seems to be a dangerous practice. This article you posted just reaffirmed my position. Thanks, Morningstar!

i saw that one too LOL. i love the maple syrup hot pepper guy that is selling a can of sugary gunk for nearly $50. i think the only thing that i would get clean with that is my esophagus b/c i would be throwing that up!!

can you imagine the amount of water used to flush the toliets of ppl that can stomach and digest these "cleansing remedies"?

I know I've told this story before but I'm going to bore everyone with it again. A few years back I worked with a woman who took colonics every couple of weeks. She swore they got rid of food that was "stuck" in her intestines and colon. There was a peanut from the 70s apparently. I asked her how she knew it was from the 70s (did it emerge wearing a white leisure suit and humming "More Than a Woman?") and she said "Because I haven;t eaten a peanut in 20 years!" Ooooookay.

If I ever EVER decide to do a colonic, there's no way in hell I would look at the results!

What would it mean if it was wearing a top hat, pince nez & twirling a cane?
