How are you using push/pull?

Hi - I've recently fallen in love with Supersets and have been doing it once a week,(in addition to other weight routines.)

I haven't done much with Push/pull - anyone using it regularly and how do you us it? Are you rotating it with other strength workouts during the week/month?

Thanks.

I try to do push/pull every other week or so. My preference being 2 sets full body premix. I just fit in on a day I want to do full body wts. Sometimes I do MIS, PP, ME, PH, depending on my mood.

Good Luck,

Diana

Diana - do you lift heavy on this one? The few times I did it I found that I could go pretty heavy, as compared with ME, when I have to use lighter weights.

Thanks.

When I have the time, I really enjoy doing SJP followed by Push Pull. This gives me a great cardio workout, and I feel like every muscle group has been thoroughly worked by the end of it all. The two workouts seem to complement each other quite well.

Hi,

I too am addicted to Supersets, and about a month ago decided to try Push Pull, I LOVE IT! Now I do it once a week, usually I alternate between Push Pull and Supersets during the week, so I get a full body weight workout at least twice a week. Sometimes I'll do a third either upper or lower body workout as well. Its a lot of fun and there are some new moves with the stability ball in there which I really like.

I use the premixes, and the mix n' match menu, so I can wear the muscles out. One set is just not enough with anything (except those evil shoulder handstand things!)

I don't use PushPull as is - it feels like too light a workout for me. And I don't have more than an hour for the two set premix. However, I do like to use it for two-day splits. I'll do the 2 or 3 set upper body premix one day, followed by the 2 or 3 day lower body premix the next day.

Yes, that's what I do too. I do the 2 or 3 set lower body premix, with maybe a short cardio. And another day I do upper body, sometimes using mix n match so I also add in some of the exercises from Super Sets. Body Blast didn't come with an upper body workout, per se, so we have to make the best of things as they are!

I just did the PP Total Body 2 Set premix yesterday. It is a little long but I do enjoy it. I use the premixes also or do the upper or lower body split. I definitely heavy up on the weights when I can. :7

Thanks everyone.

I have done it once as scripted and found it too easy.

I did do the upper body 2 set pre-mix and liked it but found it long.

I think I am going to try it again and and use it every other week as an alternative to superset.

I love adding it to SJP - I think I'd do just the cardio pre-mix and then add it on - ofcourse, that would have to be on a day when I actually had more than 1 hour to myself - I can dream.

I use similar to the way Lianne ( Mogambo) does:
upper body twice through ect. The premixes are quite valuable to me in this workout and in SS. I use this PP more than SS though.

Yea, I do go heavier on this workout. But if I'm looking for a real heavy wt workout, I use MIS. It's nice that Cathe has given us so much to choose from. Can't wait to get the hardcore series!!

I have done the push/ pull upper body 2 sets and it is a good workout in only 46 minutes. I am going to use these premixes often. :)

When I use Push/Pull I do a two week rotation alternating like this:

M - Intervals
T - Upper Body through twice
W - Sustained Cardio
T - Lower Body through twice
F - Kickbox
S - Push Pull total body through once
