1 pkg. plain devi's food cake mix
1-1/2 c. water
1/2 c. vegetable oil
3 large eggs

Topping:
1 jar (8 oz) caramel topping (or butterscotch)
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
4 Butterfinger candy bars (2.1 oz each) crushed (bash 'em with a plastic hammer!)
1 container (12 oz) Cool Whip, thawed
1 package (8 oz)cream cheese at room temperature

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together all cake ingredients until well blended ( use a mixer if you want), and pour batter into 13X9" pan. Bake 35-38 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven and place it on a wire rack. Immediately poke holes in the top of the cake with a drinking straw of chopstick.

Prepare the topping. In a small bowl, mix caramel topping and sweetened condensed milk until well combined. Pour over warm cake. Sprinkle with 1/2 of the crushed candy bars.

Mix together Cool Whip and cream cheese with a mixer and spread over cake. Sprinkle with the rest of the crushed candy bars. Refrigerate until well cooled.

Really good!!!! :9:9:9:9:9

Let me know if any of you taste it and exclaim, "Holy Cow!" ;-)

Hi Honeybunch,

I make something similar to this cake but instead of butterfinger candy bars I use Skor candy bars and I don't do the cream cheese just the coolwhip. Your version sounds really good. I will have to try it because the version I make everyone loves it. Sometimes I have just poured the carmel topping on without the condensed milk if we want it more carmel.

I would like to say that I have loved getting these cake recipes. I haven't tried all of them yet but I will.

Thanks so much for sharing with us.

Hey honeybunch, I always print out the recipes you post but haven't made any yet. But I went out and got all the ingredients for this one, which I am going to make this weekend when I turn off my "food conscience" for a few festive days!

I keep walking by the cupboard and picking up the box of cake mix and telling it "You and me got a serious date this weekend, mister!"

I will report back, if I don't sink into a sugar coma.

Thanks for your posts, I always enjoy them.

Luv sugar!!!

Everyone's favorite chef Emeril Lagasse (Bam!) says, "Pork fat rules," but I have to disagree.......SUGAR RULES!!!!!!!!!

I honestly don't know what I'd do if I was told be a doctor that I had to give up sugar!!!!! I can eat a jar of marshmallow cream with a spoon in one sitting without batting an eye. Or half a can of cake frosting, or a package of those marshmallow peeps.

This sounds like confession time!;-)

sugar AND pork fat

Well then, here's something you and Emeril can agree on...

when I was growing up (family from the Philippines) there was a specialty my mom made for the holidays called Copia (sp?). Anyway, the main ingredients were pork lard, sugar, and green onions. I can't remember what else is put in there, but it's basically a hard pudding-like object rolled into the size of a golf ball, fried, and consumed with gusto (though practically vomited up by us children).

That's my submission for most revolting holiday food.

Me too, Sophie. I finally succumbed and made the Holy Cow Cake last night -- it is fabulous and decadent! The folks in my office are LOVING it.

Thanks for the recipes, Honeybunch. I actually went out a bought The Cake Mix Doctor cookbook just based on the responses to all of your recipes here, even without making one. And I'm not much of a baker, but these are SO easy!

Oh my, honeybunch, it's Christmas afternoon and I am stuffed with Holy Cow cake and swooning with ecstacy. A bit dizzy, too! I don't normally ingest that much sugar at one time!

I rarely make cakes because it's hard for me not to eat half a pan at once - but I'm glad I splurged on this one. I used chocolate covered caramel pieces instead of butterfingers because my kids don't eat nuts yet, and it was soooo good. The cream cheese is perfect in the icing, too. I've seen versions of this recipe that don't includes it, but it makes a big difference.

Mmmmm. Thanks so much for your recipes! I am going to try more!

Wow, that sounds so decadent and so yummy. But I'd probably call it Diabetic Shock Cake! My teeth hurt thinking about it!
