High Step

Wondering if Cathe is using a 14" or 17" step? Is the 17" step for use by taller individuals or could it be used for a more advanced workout by a 5'4" person like me (I've always used a 14")?

Kelly, if you're talking about in HSTA she is using 14". I am 5'4" and use this same height. I have tried 16" before but feel it puts too much stress on my knees.

At 5'4", I wouldn't use any higher than 14" for stepping up on (higher for sitting). 12" may even work better for you. It all depends on the angle of your knee when you put your foot on the step. It shouldn't be any tighter than 90 degrees (a right angle). Any tighter than that, and it puts too much stress on the knee. TO add intensity without adding height, be sure to push through the heel of the foot on the step.

Hi, do you have any idea how tall Cathe is? I am 5"3 and am not sure how many risers I should be using on the high step. I seem to have hurt my knees and my back with my first high step workout.
