Cathlete
Hi, Cathe,
The race is done!!! We did it! 13.1 miles seemed impossible a few short months ago, but we did it. It was a hot and humid day, which made it feel like harder work, but it was worth it. We finished right in the middle of the pack at 2 hours and 15 minutes. I had some of your music selections from your videos on my iPod and they reminded me of your encouraging voice.
I was TRULY amazed at the human spirit. A blind man and his seeing eye dog finished ahead of me as well as another guy with a prosthetic leg. There were groups of people encouraging each other as well as people who ran alone in silence. People in every age group were there to celebrate their hard work. I saw a 13 year old kid who was running with his grandma and her friends. The guy who won turned around at the finish line and ran the course backwards for a while encouraging the others to do their best and that the finish line was not far away.
I think the most amazing thing was 2 men in wheel chairs who spent their day cheering for every single person that came by, giving us high-5's and encouragement with great enthusiasm. Isn't that unbelievable? In this race, in exercise, and in life, no one can do it for you. You have to take what you've got and do the best you can with that. It was amazing to see 2500 people out there doing just that.
Thanks for all your support and I TRULY hope that you are "back in the race" VERY SOON!!!

Here we are, all set to go.
