Hi all- did ME and RS for the first time-

JeanBe

Cathlete
and wow are they hard!! Please tell me that other people couldn't complete all of the workout the first time through! I was getting so discouraged because I felt like I should have been able to do the Step workout today but I only made it 50 minutes through (couldn't do the challenge at the end). I mean, I'm really determined to be able to do these workouts but could use some "I did it" stories!

That being said, I think Cathe is great and I love the choreography and exercises in both tapes. I just feel weak! Tomorrow is PUB so I'll let you know how that goes!!

Have a great night all!
Jean

I've been doing Cathe for a long time, and I must say that you should be proud of yourself. First, the choreography is new and with ME you have the endurance factor kickin' in. RS was so complicated for me the first time I tried it, I put it away for a year. Then I decided to preview it, which I don't usually do but it really helped a lot. I've done it completely through 4 times now. I'm keeping in my rotation at least once a week for a few more weeks though. Great Job and keep up the good work.:9

Hi Jean!

Rhythmic Step is one of Cathe's most choreographically challenging workouts, so getting through almost all of it is great! I know I've seen tons of post from people who have stumbled through that one. You should feel proud of yourself for doing what you did :) Plus, a 50 minute cardio workout is great. Just because one of Cathe's workouts is 45, 50, 60 or 90 minutes does not mean you NEED to do all of those minutes. Modify, modify, modify! Do what suits YOU, your schedule, and YOUR fitness level. Many people often do the warm up, and one or two sections of a cardio video...

Now, as for PUB--if you thought Muscle Endurance was tough... Well, lets just say your biceps have never been worked until you have done the bicep work in Pyramid Upper Body! Watch out for sore hands during the chest work, too. Not sure if you have the DVDs, but I highly recommend the Pyramid up or down premixes. You can go heavier with these, and you won't have the endless reps... Good luck! That is a fun, fast pace, excellent workout.

Have fun!

You did both of these together? That's like a 2 hour workout?! Wow! I was thinking of doing ME tomorrow with about 20 min. of cardio, or doing the ME premix with alittle longer cardio. I want a good weight workout, but I get bored if it's longer than 30 min. I like longer cardio. You are getting me tired just thinking about this:eek: :D

If you did ME and RS together today, tell me you are not doing PUB tomorrow! And if you did do both ME and RS today and are new to Cathe, then that's why you are feeling weak! That's a lot of Cathe in one day! Work up to it.....don't kill yourself!

I agree--and thought that's what Jean meant at first. But then when she said she had tried to do the step workout "today", I decided that she did them on different days. I hope so, anyway.

I still can't do ME all the way through! I just can't do all those endless leg presses in one day and still have the stamina for lunges. My legs get too weak. I have to split the workout up into 2 days to do it all. It is very challenging, but I'm really liking it! :)

You're doing great so be pleased with yourself!! And no...I could not do all of ME the first time either and I haven't done it yet a second time (it is my workout for next Thursday so I'll see how do the second go around). Cathe's workouts are much more intense...longer segments working muscles fatigue you more than any other workouts I've done. My only regret is that I didn't try her workouts sooner...like YEARS ago. I had always thought ALL of her workouts were intense step. And I do not have RS (yet) but I hear it is killer but it gets your heart rate up and keeps it there.

And don't feel whimpy if you need to take a break during the workouts...that's what the stop button is for on your Dvd/Vcr player. And when you're really toasted just do some stretching while the Cathe crew finish the segment and then jump back in when you're ready. Like Cathe says on one workout...take a break if you need to but not a vacation! I like that! Oh, and of course you can always modify the move if it's too hard or you're losing proper form...lighten your weights or drop the weight all together and finish the segment. People on this forum also recommend doing the more difficult step tapes WITHOUT a step the first time or two just so you can concentrate on getting the choreography down...very good advice!:D

Hey thanks for all the postitive replies- that was just what I needed. And NO WAY did I try to do both tapes on the same days!! I did ME on Monday and RS on Tuesday. For some reason I thought RS would be easier than Step Blast so I think that's why I was discouraged but they are both fantastic!! Anywan, I'm still planning on doing PUB tonight- I'll let you all know how it goes!!

Thanks again for the support!
Jean
