Allison, I've gotten garam masala in the grocery store. If it's not with the spices, try looking in the store section that carries Indian food.

They taste kind of like a combo of a dried cranberry and a dried cherry.

(I actually first heard about them on an episode of CSI--I think--where a sniper and his apprentice were leaving traces of them at the scenes of their crimes: they were using them for energy).
