A few weeks back I posted to ask if any of you had the hands free leash that goes around your waist? Well, I broke down and bought one and took it on its maiden voyage this morning. It was AWESOME! I was much more able to focus on my form and I got the space I needed away from my herding dog. My speed increased and the whole experience was so much more pleasant.
I am able to grab the leash if I need more control. There are loops on it for handles, but I always put a few knots in my leashes every foot or so which provide "handles" if I need a shorter leash. Because he's attached to my waist, if he lunges, I have greater stability than if he was at my wrist. Also, there's no danger of the leash slipping out of my hand. I got the bungee attachment, which absorbs the shock if he does lunge.
This is the one I ended up getting. I also got the leash extension, which is nice when running my shepherd, because he's always out in front of me (don't tell Cesar), and I can take it off for my puggle, who is always right next to or behind me.

I'm calling it one of my best purchases this year.
