Hi everyone. Just posting to let you know that Ryan James Porter made his appearance on Thursday, August 15, 2002 at 9:07 p.m. He weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz and was 20.5 inches long. He has quite a bit of hair, which may or may not turn out to be red like his daddy's (we're hoping!). So far, he seems to be a very placid, quiet little guy who is sleeping quite a bit, although he is finally starting to get a little more interested in nursing as my milk comes in.
We are absolutely in love with our precious little guy and can't believe how lucky we are to have another healthy, happy baby to love. I can't seem to make a link to his picture, but if you go to www.bhcs.com, click on Baylor Babies, choose Baylor University MEdical Center under "My facility", and then find his name and birthday (still on the first page as of this afternoon), you'll see the picture taken yesterday when he was about 36 hours old.
As for gory details, I had quite a bit longer labor than I'd anticipated, and got quite disheartened for a bit (doc said I'd be up in my room eating dinner, but by 6:00 p.m. I was only about 5 cm dilated, and it took me forever to get from -3 station to zero), but when we finally got around to pushing, it only took three contractions to get him out (which was a slice of heaven compared to the 2+ hours I spent pushing with Lauren!). I had a minor tear (no episiotomy again, thank goodness) and needed just two stitches. Ryan is sleeping quite a bit more than his sister, so I'm getting lots of rest and feeling really good.
Thanks for letting me share our happy news!
