help with knee pain?

Hi guys, I have been having trouble with my knees since high school (15 years ago) and am usually only troubled by discomfort during humid weather, etc. However, last summer it got bad enough for me to use a knee support brace while running.

Lately I've been doing a rotation that includes lots of kickboxing (cardio kicks, kickmax and powerstrike) and while it doesn't bother me much during the actual workout, I'm getting acute pain when I squat all the way down (so that my butt is touching my heels). I don't do this often, lol, but if I'm getting something from under my kitchen table, reaching under a low cabinet at work, etc, I get pretty bad pain on the inside of my right knee, right next to the kneecap.

Any thoughts as to what this is and whether or not I should be doing anything besides resting it?

Thanks in advance!!
Jenn

Outside of knee...sounds like Illiotibial Band Syndrome. IT band runs from the hip to outside of the knee, then wraps around the bottom. When it getts too tight, the IT band grinds on the knee causing horrible pain. Solution...stretch the hips really good every day. Check out my picture trail for some excellent hip stretches.

Also, if you want to work yoga into your rotation...yoga stretches the hips out beautifully.
