HELP...Vitamins....Have you heard of these???

LOL I'm not even LOOKING for vitamins, yet I've read this thread and am now convinced that I need to buy these vitamins, as well as become a Shaklee member.

This forum can be dangerous sometimes. :)

Is there anyone who doesn't think these vitamins are the greatest thing ever?? Because my wallet could really stand to hear that story.

I don't know if I'm low on energy. Seems like maybe I should get them, try for a week, and see what happens!!

Still LOL at myself! ;) They do sound great, though.

Hi Amy! When I first heard about these vitamins, I thought they were too good to be true! I did research on the company to see if I could find anything bad, and NOTHING came up! Of course, me being a skeptic, I tried digging harder and I still couldn't find anything bad about the company or their products. This is going to sound funny, but I tried the vitamins hoping that I wouldn't feel a difference, because honestly, they are more expensive than my Walmart brand that I was using. To my surprise (or dissapointment, depending on how you look at it :) ) I felt different in 3 days on their Basic Vitamin Pack and Soy Protein. Of course, me still being skeptical, I thought it was in my head because I knew I was supposed to feel different, so I thought I had to wait for a week to pass (that is how long I thought the "placebo" effect would last). Week 1 past, week 2, then week 3 past and I still felt great. So, I was finally convinced that they really were different. Anyway, sorry if you were looking for something bad to help your wallet out, I tried that too, with no avail!

Hey Robin?

Hi Robin, I have a question, maybe you can answer, with the multivitamin for adults, would I need to take the b complex with that, or does the multi have enough of all the vitamin b's in it?

thanks Rhonda

Hey Angela. If you decide to go on the Basics (which includes the multi-vitamin, B, C & E), this is a 30 day supply.
If you just want to try the multi-vitamin (Vita-Lea) this comes as 120 tablets or 240 tablets. You take 2 a day (one in the morning and one in the evening), so the 120 day supply will last you 60 days or 2 months, where the 240 tablets will last 120 days, or 4 months.

RE: Hey Robin?

The Vita-Lea (multivitamin) has the following RDA on B Vitamins
*Taking 2 capsules daily, this is what you get for B vitamins:
B6 2 mg (100%)
B12 6 mcg (100%)
Biotin 300 mcg (100%) (a lot of companies skimp on this one)
folic acid 400 mcg (100%)
thiamine 1.5 mg (100%)
riboflavin 1.7 mg (100%)
niacin 20 mg (100%)

B vitamins are important because they feed our nervous system and the brain. They are important for a healthy heart, reduces the risk of birth defects, aid in energy production, and helps metabolize nutrients.

You also want to look at your lifestyle when it comes to B vitamins. B vitamins are used up when we are under stress and when we eat refined foods like sugar. Most people here are eating pretty clean, so if you know you are not taking in a lot of refined foods and your stress level is normal, the B-vitamins found in the multi-vitamin will be plenty for you!

Since the recommended Daily Value differs greatly for each B vitamin, it is recommended that you avoid supplements that deliver all the B vitamins in the same dosage of 100, 75 or 50-milligrams so as not to throw the B vitamins in your bloodstream out of balance. This is more of a marketing technique than sound nutritional rationale.

I call the B vitamin the happy vitamin. When we are not eating very clean, our body uses the B-vitamins in order to process all the sugar and it does not leave any B's for our brain, thus we get CRANKY! and then we start to crave sugar even more. I have to be careful when I take my B vitamin. I took it at 8 pm the other night and I was wide awake laying in bed until 1 AM! I usually take my B-vitamin with dinner. B's are water soluable too, so if you do decide to take extra B vitamins during your day, you want to break it up (one in the morning and one in the evening).

Ok, I answered more than you asked for, but I just love my B-vitamins! :)

Iron question......

Many people are writing me personally and asking about the whole iron thing, do you do iron, or do you not do iron. Here's your answer if you are wondering.

Vita-Lea multivitamin with iron is for pre-menapausal women and teens
Vita-Lea multi with OUT iron is for post-menapausal women and men

Oh My Gosh,

Well I was not looking, thought my vitamins were fine, but, now I have joined Shaklee.

Robin You said that with the membership kit samples would be provided right? I only ordered my childrens vitamins because I was up in the air on so many other things. I figure I could try and buy :)
It is actually nice to find this with the natural foundation - the childrens vitamins were a no brainer. . . hmmm. . . what to order next. . .

Thank You Everyone for this Thread,
Now everyone has to come back and reply on how the product works for them:) :) :)

I'm so glad you decided to get some vitamins for your kids. Just like they are suppior vitamins for adults, their kids formula's wipe the competition out of the water! They contain no artificial sweetners, no artificial coloring, and are sugar free. My daughter is on the infant formula and she is SO healthy. She is 10 months old and has had one cold (and this was before Shaklee vitamins for me and her).

As for the new member kit, yes they do send some free samples. They may change what you get from time to time, but when I ordered I got a free sample of their Basic-H cleaner, Pain & Muscle Cream (which is like Icy-Hot but deeper, it is really good stuff), some of their face night cream (be careful with that one, I tried it and it made my face feel like silk, I think that is how they suck you in to buy more!) and I think a few other things, I can't remember.

I do look forward to future posts about people's results. As I said earlier though, they stand behind every one of their products 100%. If you are not happy with the results, you can get all your money back. I love that!

Well Robin, your getting some sales here lol...
I bought the multivitamin with iron and the b complex...
Will let ya know what I think soon........ thanks Rhonda

Hi Robin,

I am interested in trying this product. I started the memebership application and it asked for my SS# or drivers license and it is a required field I think. Is there any way around that. I really don't want to give my SS number or license #.

Thanks,
Winter

I look forward to trying out the products!

HI Winter. Many people do not like putting down the SS# on websites, so they put the drivers liscense number in instead. Unfortunately, the only way around that is to not become a member and just order the products at retail cost and you don't save the 15%. When I first joined, I put in my drivers liscense number. It is just for security reasons, to verify that your account is uniquely yours. The site is a locked site and is protected, so your information is safe. You will never see that info again once you become a member. It is not put on any of your oder forms where people can see. I hope this helps. I would hate for you not to order because of the whole drivers license number/ss# thing. Like I said, you can just order at retail cost, then you don't have to become a member and you don't have to enter in that kind of info. It is totally your decision.

Look what I started! Yikes! I just had a simple question and it looks like a lot of you wanted the same info! I just checked this thread for the first time today and YIKES....for this being my first thread, this really turned into a big one! Robin4health, I think you need to thank me for asking a simple question (and my doctor for recomending Shaklee)! :)

Yes, I do need to thank you! You have really started a great thread here and a lot of people are benefiting from it! I am blowing kisses your way. SMOOOCH! :)

OK, since you brought up menapause, does Shaklee have anything for hot flashes? I have tried all the suggestions & still suffer from 6-8 (some full sweat:( ) flashes a day (not counting night sweats). I'll try anything at this point!

Thanks!
Susan

Hi Susan! Great question! Yes, Shaklee has a product called Menopause Balance Complex. It is to help hot flashes and mood swings. My neighbor is on this and she said it took her hot flashes away. She said she is in love with this product. Here is the product blurb for Menopause Balance Complex:

"The remarkably effective Menopause Balance Complex uses compounds found in plants -called phytoestrogens-to ease mood swings, sleeplessness, and hot flashes associated with menopause. Black cohosh is a clinically proven herb that helps relieve hot flashes.

Menopause Balance Complex provides soy isoflavones and flaxseed lignans, phytoestrogens currently being studied for hear, bone,a nd breast health.

In as few as 30 days, these natural herbs - centuries old, butnow clinically studied - help relieve the commom symptoms of menopause."

Menopause Balance Complex (ITEM #20645)

I personally would recomend a good multi-vitamin supplementation also. You would want to go the iron-free route since you are going through menopause. You could go on the Basics (which is talked about on previous posts), or if you want, you could just take the multi-vitamin (Vita-Lea, no iron).

HOpe this helps!
