Help staying motivated...new to forum

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum. However, i have been obsessed with Cathe for sometime now. Every time I get excited about a new routine I am doing something happens to throw me off. This is past month my routine was Cardio&Weights and it was kind of intense for me and I have been working out for 10 years but could it be that step is a totally different experience than regular floor aerobics? I get depressed because I can not get through it without taking a minute to sip water between each circuit. I get really down on myself. And, I wonder if I can cut it doing cathe's dvd's. Any advice? :(

Everyone takes sips between circuits! Cathe even frequently indicates in her workouts to stop and take a sip, and even a break if you need to. That is perfectly normal. Even Cathe and the crew do it - in some of the workouts, but even still - remember, they are edited - they stop along the way and that edit that part out. Step is completely different from regular floor aerobics and further - it doesn't suit everyone. Keep trying, but if you find out that step isn't your balliwick, then try something else. Maybe kickboxing or cardio circuit training. Find what works - for you.

I frequently stop to take sips of water. In fact in between each interval/blast section of every Imax workout, while Cathe is side-stepping, I'm sipping my water and catching my breath.

There is no shame in starting at a certain level in working your way up to what you can do. You will improve with time but I understand that having patience with our bodies is one of the hardest things to do.

Good luck with continuing on your fitness journey!

Thank you so much...yeah, I totally did even think about the edit-ing of the videos. I just get so bummed out because I feel like I do not have enough endurance or something but yea step is different. I never liked it before but i do feel a major burn with it compared to tae bo. I just hear/read about how intense people workout and I just wonder like oh my gosh do you stop and take a minute...to me the Cardio and Weights is a beginner dvd and i just get down on myself that I can not do it without stopping.

I am always drinking water during my work outs! That is in no way a sign of weakness or lack of ability to keep up! You need the water to keep your muscles working for you! I will pause a dvd to get water if I have to. It's vital!

If you enjoy step and Cathe workouts in general definitely don't give up! You can do this! :) I'm relatively new to Cathe and the forums as well and I completely understand how you feel. Like you, I worked out for years before I found Cathe and there first time I did a Cathe DVD I thought "this woman is crazy, there's no way I can do this"!! I still OFTEN get that "can I really do this?" feeling but I've stuck with it and, though I still have a long way to go, Cathe has pushed me to a whole new level! In my opinion, Cardio & Weights is a "beginner Cathe DVD" but NOT a beginner DVD (if that makes sense). It is still tough stuff! There is absolutely no shame in taking water breaks! I take them all the time. A brief water breaks fuels me through the next segment. HTH!
