Help Please-Anyone in MN had a tummy tuck?

If anyone from Minnesota has had a tummy tuck, I may be looking into a mini-tummy tuck and I'd like to locate a reputable doctor. I've been on the internet and it's crazy how much information is out there. Do you have a suggestion with someone you could recommend? Also how much was the consultation and the cost of your procedure? Thanks so much, I'm getting lost in cyberspace.

Dr Michael Fasching 763-577-7500 in Plymouth MN.

Can't help with a tummy tuck but my MIL had a full face lift along with routine maintenance (botox..)and was very pleased with Dr. Fasching. I met him when I brought her in for a checkup after surgery plus I had a consult with him for something else. Very nice, easy to talk to and down to earth personality. He has been voted as a "Top Doctor" in the Mpls/St Paul magazine every time they run it. Last time was the Jan 06 issue which you could checkout at the library to review all the top voted doctors in that field. They are chosen by polling 5000 dr.s and nurses in the area.

I would recommend getting a number of consults so you have a chance to compare personalities, prices, procedures etc... Most consultations are free.

Good luck!

I am having work done. I got on the plastic surg association site and they gave me a free referral. I ot a dr. thet has never had a lawsuit and specializes in what i want done.
I saw 2 other doctors and paid a fortune for a consult and i hated both of them.
They told me if i didn't like him they would refer me to someone else until i found one i liked.
Make sure of their crudentials. Board Certified...in plastic surgery , not just surgery...

Love the way you responded. Thanks so much for the information, in some ways I feel it's so vain to want to do this, because you know I've just always believed in working out hard and doing the best with what you've got, but I'm really tired of looking at this flap, and I'm not having anymore children, so maybe if it doesn't cost too much, maybe now is the time to do this. Thanks.

No matter how hard you work out, you can't loose skin or grow breasts!!! I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to look your best. Especially when you have worked really hard but are worried to show off because of something like this, that can be ficed so easily.

I kinda feel like that, too. (Sorta like it is all vanity).

But I also have had my kids, and one of my pregnancies caused me to stretch to a 40 week size in 24 weeks. I am 4'11, and have a very short waist to begin with, so you can imagine how painful that was. I actually cried with the pain of it, because I could feel my abdominals ripping as they stretched.

I do work out hard and consistently. I would love to be a "success story" like we consistently see in those "ads". But it is not gonna happen, and I am so very tired of still having to wear baggy clothing or ill-fitting sizes to hide my kangaroo pouch. I joke that if I could put a zipper in there, I could carry my groceries in it!
And my abs, under the pouch, are rock hard. My DD likes to feel them..."oooh, mama, you have CUBES in there!"

Anyway, not to hikack, just wanted to vent and add my support. Here in Northern Alabama, the cost is anywhere from $6500.00 for a mini, to $10,000.00 for a full abdominoplasty. The best plastic surgeons that I know here give you a free consult with one of their surgical nurses, where you can spend a lot of time, ask questions, watch videos and the like. A consult with a surgeon costs money, which is deducted from the cost of surgery should you go ahead with it. If you are a smoker, you will have to quit 2 weeks before surgery, and stay quit, because your healing will depend on a good, oxygenated blood supply. (smoking constricts the blood vessels). You will have to wear a special binder, or girdle, for several weeks. You may go home with a small drain, (a small tube with a bulb at the end to gently suction excess fluid) which will need to be emptied everyday. You may have to walk kinda hunched over a bit at first, and some even recommend sleeping in a recliner to begin with, so as not to put undue tension on your sutures. You will not be able to work out for several weeks, other than walking, I believe.

I have made up my mind to do it...just can't decide on "when"...

Whew! Longwinded tonight...sorry! HTH, Julie

Thank you for that last reply, I feel exactly the same way. I've made the decision to have the procedure done. I just have to discuss this thoroughly with my husband. We are in the position where if we readjust some things and give up a few other things we could do this. I really feel as though I work my behind off to do the best with the body I have, and like I've said before I do alot for my family, willing and will continue to do this willingly. I just feel like maybe I can have this one indulgence, this one time. Thanks for your reply. You know I had my first consult today with a surgeon and it would run $5500.00 for a full tummy tuck, he said I was in very good shape and so a very good candidate. He also asked me if I wanted my breasts done since they also change with pregnancy, I told him this tummy tuck would be indulgence enough. He did say no real working out for atleast six weeks, boy that's going to be hard. It will be really hard to get back to running with that much time off and because now it's getting cold. I always have to warm up to the cold. I guess I'll just have to walk in it in order to keep myself use to it. I wonder if I can work out with bands, instead of weights? Uhmmm.

The six weeks goes by surprisingly fast. I wouldn't worry too much about it. It is sooooo worth feeling your best again to have to take that time off. Any you can't do any kind of work out for those six weeks
