After sending my oriental out for repair due to puppy damage, & experience the same exact puppy damage a month after spending $500 on said repair, I'm taking the plunge & getting something new.

I have a large dark red/wine colored chair, & an olive green sofa. I tend towards traditional decor. I'm looking at these:

I like the colors & "busy-ness" of option 1 better--the colors are softer & the pattern would probably hide stains better. But option 2 is more traditional. I've been trying to decide all day & can't. Help me!

OMG I thought I would tip the scales in favor of #1, and then I voted and saw we're currently neck and neck! Sorry...

Option #1 - here's why....

Option #1 has more green to match your couch, but for contrast offers more of that light color throughout which also adds interest. It also has your chair color but it's not a primary color so it will coordinate but not contrast too much with your couch.

Option #2 has to much of the red color for your green coach. It also looks a little festive (Christmas-y) to me. Green and red, I can see holly leaves in there and reindeer antlers in the corners.

Sorry, Laura I justed voted for #2 and gave you a tie!

I also wanted to let you know about rugs-direct.com. I've purchased several rugs through them and have been very happy with quality and service. Shipping is free and you have 30 days to return. They also have a huge selection of all kinds of rugs.

Good Luck and Happy Shopping!

Option 2

I voted for option #2. The biggest piece in your room is the green couch. Option 2 will not just "blend and get lost in your couch. Also there is something about the repeating pattern in option 1 that I didn't care for. JMHO:). Let us know what you decide.

Poll is closed!

I went with option 1. I really liked the softness and, as DeanaMax my twin pointed out, it has more colors in it so, in the event that I move it to another room or get different furniture, I won't have to get yet another rug.

Whew! That was excruciating! LOL! Thanks for all the input, I can see you guys had just as tough a time as I did!
