Help me classify LIS-weight or cardio?

I am confused on how to classify these. I typically like to do weights one day and cardio the next and alternate this all week. I count kettlebells as a weight workout and usually do some extra leg work (squats, lunges, etc) those days.

I'm not sure how to classify the new ones yet. I've only done Low Impact Challenge (yesterday was a cardio day). I'm not sure what to do today. I really want to try Slide & Glide, but I don't think this would be considered a weight workout. Would it? How about Cardio Supersets? Cardio or weights, or both? I don't mind extra cardio of course, but I don't want to do weights two days in a row. I'm having trouble figuring this out so any help anyone can give me is appreciated!

IMO, I think when weights are used to enhance the cardio, and help bring up heart rate more, I would lean and say it's cardio. The split tri-set dvd I believe is definitely considered weights, I did Athletic Training, and I would classify that as more cardio, the weighted work was not heavy enough or enough in general for me to consider it a weight day.

I have been thinking of this topic lately too, and I feel like I think I have been wrongly classifying certain workouts as "weights" when in realty they were light enough and mixed with cardio, so it would be fine to follow up the next day with a more standard weight routine.

Thanks! Once I've done all of the workouts I think I'll get a better handle on it. I wish I had a rotation from Cathe now instead of next week. Who could wait to start using them? LOL

What I've done in the past is just use really light weights (2 or 3 lbs) if I know I did some heavy lifting the day before. That only works for workouts I'm familiar with though.

So what about Slide & Glide? I know you don't use dumbbells, but is it okay to do thinks like lunges and squats daily? I wouldn't be holding any weights but yet it's a strenuous workout on those quads and hamstrings.

I'm sure some people think I'm over-thinking this lol. I just want to make sure I'm not over-working muscles and getting sore.

I definitely think slide and glide would be a cardio workout and back to back days with unweighted/light weight squats/lunges is fine.

I don't think that type of activity does much to tear the muscles then rebuild like heavy weights do, so there really is no need for extended recovery time.

Even something like kettlebell swings, people do those everyday too. I hear people talk about about the 200/day swing challenges or something like that.

Slide n' Glide is about 20 minutes of cardio and then 20 minutes of fire band work. If you choose a band that has enough resistance, it qualifies as a whole body strength workout. The lunges weren't that hard at all. I thought the push ups were much harder. I don't think its really that much in the cardio department, I will be using it as an add on to my run days.

I was going to post this question this morning!

This is my scedule:

MON - Upper Body Weights + Cardio
TUE - Lower Body Weights + Cardio
WED - Upper Body Weights + Cardio
THU - Lower Body Weights + Cardio
FRI - Cardio
SAT - Cardio
SUN - Cardio or Stretch or Yoga

I am also having a hard time putting the new series in a category. So far I have done Afterburn (I would say low-med cardio), Cardio Supersets (I would say low-med cardio), CycleMax (definitely cardio), and Slide N Glide (this one is tough - for me it wasn't enough to be cardio and wasn't enough to be a strength training workout)

I will do the remainder of the new videos this week and pick a category.

I really like the new videos but since to me they aren't definitely cardio or definitely weight training, I was thinking of swapping a new LIS video for one of my Fri or Sat cardio sessions. It will be more of an overall body workout rather than a strict cardio workout.

I'd love to know what others are categorizing these.
