Hi Cathe,

I'm kind of new to this forum and site and I was so excited to find it being that I have recently become one of your biggest supporters/fans...I had posted this on the open forum but didnt get much of a response and thought maybe since you are an instructor as well you would have some meaningful input..just wondering, how you fit in your own workouts either on top of or in place of your classes and how you know when to take a break or if you're doing too much.. I ask this b/c I have been consistently gaining weight and I cant seem to figure out why..I started an office job 2 years ago and I teach every night and Saturday and Sunday mornings.. (about 12 classes a week with only about 3 being true cardio and the rest sculpt and Pilates) I also workout with my own cardio in the morning before work... (about 3 times a week for 30 minutes)...I'm 35 years old and I cant lose a pound.. I've been gaining gaining and I am the heaviest I have ever been and I'm so frustrated. I dont understand.. I usually dont look at the scale but my clothes arent fitting right anymore...I dont eat badly except maybe some late night eating b/c that's when I get home from my very long day...I'm thinking I need to have my thyroid tested b/c it seems that could be the problem... anyway, just wondering you have any advice on this.... Thanks so much and I hope you are well soon so I can add your new dvds to my workout!!!

Hi There, I am not Cathe but I didn't see this posted on the other thread so I thought I could chime in here.

I know for myself that it matters greatly when I eat and of course how much. Most studies show that it doesn't matter when you eat but i don't really agree with that.I use to cut hair and some of my heaviest customers were ones who went all day without eating and then spent alnight nibbling and eating their biggest meal.Is there a way that you can eat earlier? Or not eat after 6 or 7? Thats an idea
Also a food journal would do wonders.Sometimes we don't realize how much we are eating until we have to write it down,
I currently run ALOT...burning upwards from 1000 cals a day, and I was thinking I could eat whatever and not gain weight. But the scale crept up a little, this week alone I started writing everything down and I cut out picking at things...and I am already down 2 lbs.
With all this being said, you may want to visit the ole Doc to see what he as to say about your ever changing body.Lord only knows, right?
Good luck!
Lori :)

Hi Janine,
I'm not Cathe either but I am an ACE-certified personal trainer.
Your schedule sounds incredibly heavy to me. Is your office job a 40-hour a week gig? And on top of that you teach 12 classes a week, plus squeeze in your own workouts?!?! I admire your stamina, that is simply amazing!!! However, your body may be sending you another message, in terms hanging on to every pound it can get, and then some.
How much sleep are you getting? Do you have even one rest day, where you pull back and allow your body (and mind) to recover from the demands you may be placing on them? If you are going flat-out seven days a week, from early morning into the evenings -- and it sounds like you are -- you may be at risk of seriously overdoing things.
I'm sure others will weigh in here, and perhaps Cathe will as well, but I would say that if you are in a position to rethink your schedule, you may want to do so. That's aside from the caloric issues already mentioned here.
Best of luck to you!:7
