help-dried stuff on my cat

this is going to sound gross.3 days ago she went poo and some of it landed on her fur right below her rear end.she will not let me clean it and it is now a dry spot. i am hoping it won't get infected. any suggestions? i hope i won't have to take her to a vet to have it cut off!

One of our cats had the same problem, we waited too long, and she became sick. We think worms, but they also gave us medicine for parasites, gave her i.v fluid, and a vitamin shot. She is 100% better, but she got pretty ill before we caught it.

I'd take her right away to be clipped, or have someone help you hold her down and cut it off.

We switched cat litters and I am now super duper diligent about scooping the litter box.

Did your kitty have diarrhea? Is that how she got it stuck on herself?

Hold her "football style" (body under your arm, head facing backwards), and if she's REALLY feisty, a SMALL amount (like a 1/4) of a Dramamine...We used that when we had to fly with our cat when I was a kid...Good Luck!

she is very feistly. i will take her to the vet tomorrow. i remember a few years ago she had to have an xray and it sounded like the vet was torchering her so i had to step outside.
thankx a bunch

I used to have to go through a whole process before trying to trim my late cat's claws. I would have to wrap the rest of his body in a towel and then hold him under my thigh while I worked on his claws. It isn't ideal but it might work. Good luck to you!

Yeah, good luck with that! :p When it comes to holding down my fiesty yet normally-docile cat for ANYTHING, I call BFF and she does my dirty work! LOL

We had a long haired cat and this was a common problem for him. I found that cutting off the poo in back was easiest while he was eating.
So I would put fresh food in his bowl, and then go to work on his hind quarters. I could usually get in there for awhile before he noticed.

If it's really caked on and close to her anus, you might try a bath first, to soften things up.

Our vet wouldn't do anything with it unless there was a health risk or she was impacted.

I'm always either cutting off poo or wiping my kitty's rear end. She is a long-haired kitty with a loose stool....she has kidney disease... I ended up buying kitty wipes that work well in cleaning her back side. I just pick her up carefully, take her to the powder room, shut the door, and clean her rear end.

Now if I could just get her to not paint the walls with that bushy tail of hers... ;-)
